Mounds View City Council June 27, 1988 <br />Regular Meeting Page Six <br />Park and Rec Director Saarion reviewed the history <br />of the proposed completion of the pathway at Silver <br />View Park, and the meetings that have been held and <br />Staff's recommendation that the work be done this <br />coming fall. <br />Councilmember Hankner reported <br />a group of residents on May 27 <br />sion of the pathway, and based <br />she was ready to make a motion <br />proceed with the work. <br />Staff had met with <br />to discuss the exten- <br />on that discussion, <br />to direct Staff to <br />Mayor Linke stated he was concerned at this time with <br />the cost and replacement factors of using ag lime, as <br />was being recommended, over wood chips, and he would <br />prefer to stay with wood chips. <br />Councilmember Hankner replied the majority of the <br />residents are concerned with the use of wood chips, as <br />they blow and make more of a mess, whereas ag lime would <br />offer the asthetic value the residents would like to <br />have. She also stated they must consider the water flow <br />in the area, and she feels this would be a good compro- <br />mise for all involved. <br />There was discussion on the merits of ag lime versus <br />wood chips and where it fits into the p:;:::.ject. <br />Councilmember Wuori expressed concern with ag lime <br />washing into the lake and possible contamination pro- <br />blems. She also expressed concern with the park getting <br />hodge -podge for the trail system. <br />Dave Radamacher, 7421 Parkview Drive, stated the Park <br />Board would be meeting next week to discuss the lake, <br />and he would rather see ag lime used as it is loss <br />threatening than wood chips, and he suggested considering <br />ag lime for the remainder of the park. <br />Motion /Second: Hankner /Linke to direct Staff to begin <br />the implementation of the continuation of the development <br />of the path around Silver View Pond, according to the <br />planning discussion with the residents and Staff on <br />May 27, 1988. Staff is further directed to distribute <br />detailed plans to the residents and City Council prior <br />to actual work being done. Staff is further directed to <br />review and report on the environmental effects of ag lime. <br />4 ayes 0 nays <br />Councilmember Hankner asked if any response was ever <br />received from Scotland Green concerning the continuation <br />of the pathway through their property. <br />15.
