Mounds View City Council July 11, 1988 <br />Regular Meeting Page Four <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley reviewed Public Works <br />Director Minetor's memo of July 11 to the City Council <br />regarding the bid award for the sanitary sewer repair <br />on Silver Lake Road between Woodcrest Drive and Wood <br />dale Drive. He stated that after conferring with SBH, <br />Staff would recommend accepting the low bid with the <br />PVC alternate. He also pointed out the agreement <br />calls for the County to reimburse the City for <br />surfacing costs in a total amount of $32,966, which <br />represents 50 percent of the bid price for road work. <br />Motion /Second: Quick /Hankner to award the contract <br />for sanitary sewer replacement on Silver I-ke Road <br />(City project #88 -1) to B &D Underground, Inc., in the <br />amount of $176,137, and establish a construction con- <br />tingency of 10 percent, for a total project cost of <br />$193,750.70. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley stated the entire strip <br />of Silver Lake Road between Woodcrest and County Road <br />H2 would have to be shut down during this work, and <br />notices would be sent out and signs posted in advance. <br />Attorney Meyers had no report. <br />Councilmember Quick had no report. <br />Councilmember Blanchard asked for an update on the <br />recycling program. <br />City Planner Herman reviewed the statistics from <br />the first pick -up, with 11.4 tons being picked up <br />from 322 households, which represents 7 percent of <br />the City. She stated the majority of what was picked <br />up was newspapers, and they hope for better participa- <br />tion next week. <br />Councilmember Hankner asked if there was another way, <br />other than a brochure, to remind people how to sort, <br />and she suggested an insert in the water billing, which <br />people could post on their refrigerator door. <br />City Planner Herman stated they hope to send out a <br />flyev within the next few months, perhaps using the <br />=Boy Scouts to deliver it. She added it would not be <br />possible to send it with the water billings, as those <br />are postcards, and the postage cost would increase it <br />they changed the format. <br />14.
