RESOLUTION NO. 7745 <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH DICK GRIPENTROG GENERAL CONTRACTING <br /> FOR INTERIOR PAINTING IMPROVEMENTS AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER <br /> WHEREAS, the Mounds View Community Center was built in 2 phases during <br /> 1997 through 1998 has had very minimal improvements or changes to the interior; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council approved reupholstering existing "soft" furniture in <br /> the Community Center commons on October 25, 2010 (Res. 7686); and <br /> WHEREAS, the painting color scheme in the Community Center is outdated and <br /> worn, requiring a new paint coating and providing an opportunity to bring a more modern, <br /> neutral color scheme to better promote the various spaces to rent; and <br /> WHEREAS, the following items have been identified and recommended as <br /> needed improvements by City Staff and the YMCA Advisory Committee: <br /> Clean /Paint ceilings and bar joists, including repair of various ductwork wrap <br /> along with the "lifting" of ductwork that has fallen through the years. <br /> Remove /Paint/Reinstall multi colored drop -in panels (grid work) in suspended <br /> ceiling areas. <br /> Patch /Paint walls and trim in all of the commons area, conference rooms 1 and 2 <br /> and the (2) restrooms located outside of the front counter. <br /> Patch /Paint YMCA office areas behind the front counter and install track lighting <br /> at the front counter to replace ineffective lighting currently installed. <br /> Remove the first section of cinder block wall in the commons and patch existing <br /> tile. The second section of the wall (beyond the Event Center hallway) is <br /> proposed to be lowered to bench height and a wooden seat board installed. <br /> Varnish brick front entry to enhance color of the brick, which will also allow any <br /> graffiti to be removed more easily. <br /> Change color of vinyl base where necessary to complete color scheme. <br /> Paint and install a metal coat rack/shelve on both sides of the oval shaped wall. <br /> WHEREAS, Staff also identified (2) additional options: <br /> Option 1: Patch /Paint/Trim (3) long hallways including adding a new chair rail to <br /> match existing. <br /> Option 2: Painting the metal bases on the existing tables and frames on the <br /> chairs /bench seating to complete the new color scheme; and <br /> WHEREAS, Staff has obtained (2) quotes from Contractors with the low quote <br /> coming from Dick Gripentrog General Contracting in the total amount of $24,490 for all <br /> base items above and options 1 and 2; and <br />
