39 <br />resolution was tabled until the December 16 meeting so that it can be discussed at <br />the public hearing on December 15. Mr. Kinne will be present at the public hearing <br />to answer questions. <br />The Mayor read a letter from they Board of County Commissioners dated November 24, <br />which enclosed a check for $4,602.06 for the Village apportionment from the County <br />Road and Bridge Fund for 1957, and explained an error in the mileage allowed. The <br />village received $678.09 for 4.08 miles of roads listed to Arden Hills, $166.20 for <br />one mile listed to St. Anthony, and $237.56 for 1.43 miles listed to New Brighton. <br />Motion by Gibson, seconded by Rustad, to authorize payment of checks to these Villages <br />in the amount given to compensate for the error. 5 ayes. <br />Rev. Bentrup, 8158 Red Oak Drive, presented a new plat proposal for his property <br />located at this address. Referred to the Planning Committee. <br />Mr. Roy Gale and Mr. Elmer Adelmann appeared with regard to a contract for <br />services between the Village and the Spring Lake Park Fire Department. The Fire <br />Department will study the contract, and it will be taken up again at the Dec. 16 <br />meeting. <br />A report was presented to the Council on fire calls from January through October, <br />1958. <br />It was requested that Groveland north of Highway 10 be kept sanded, and that <br />a through-stop be established at Sherwood on Groveland as this area is hazardous during <br />fire runs. The Mayor will check on having this done. <br />The Mayor L.gave verbal notice to the Council that a special meeting would be held <br />at 7:00 P.M. on December 16 at the Village Hall to discuss Lakeside Beach with the <br />Spring Lake Park Council. <br />The Police Commission reported that specifications had been drawn up for a new <br />police car providing an option with or without trade of the old car, and mailed to <br />numerous dealers. Motion by Achterkirch, seconded by Sullivan to publish legal notice <br />of advertisement for bids to be opened January 20, 1959, for an automobile for use by <br />the Police Department. 5 ayes. <br />The Health and Public Safety Committee recommended that a public hearing be held <br />on December 15 at the Edgewood School for the purpose of discussing village-wide <br />garbage pick-up. The Clerk will give notice of the hearing through a news release. <br />The Mayor reported that copies of the Curfew Ordinance had been distributed to <br />members of the Ramsey County Municipal Officials Association. <br />The Clerk requested instruction from the Council concerning publishing of the <br />Amendment to Ordinance 50 passed by the Council on September 16 and not signed by the <br />Mayor. Motion by Sullivan, seconded by Rustad, that the Council rescind its previous <br />action in approving the Amendment to Ordinance 50. 5 ayes. <br />A letter was read from Mr. Gay Harmon, Mounds View Schools Recreation Director, <br />requesting use of the skating rink at Hillview and. Oakwood for a figure skating program <br />and the hockey rink at Hillview and Long Lake Road. Motion by Sullivan, seconded by <br />Achterkirch, that permission for this use be granted providing a satisfactory arrangement <br />for the time schedule can be worked out. 5ayes. <br />A letter from Mr. Pagenkopf, Principal of Edgewood Jr. High requested use of the <br />hockey rink for practice purposes each afternoon five days a week. Trustee Sullivan <br />will try to work out some arrangement providing different hours or a different location. <br />Motion by Sullivan, seconded by Achterkirch, to adopt Resolutidnt No. 13 <br />readjusting the Edgewood assessment. 5 ayes. <br />
