109 <br />Mr. Kenneth Ballinger appeared before the council in regards to the allocation of <br />more funds for Civil Defense in the 1960 budget and also requesting that the Civil Defense <br />be given the old police car for use as a rescue vehicle. According to the Chief of Police <br />and a mechanic interested in purchasing the car, the vehicle is in very poor condition, <br />worth approximately $150.00. The sale of the police car tabled and the condition of the <br />car to be investigated and a report returned at the next meeting, Mayor Gibson will meet <br />with Kenneth Ballinger and Civil Defense Director, Ingram Rustad, in regards to the police <br />car and report at the next meeting. <br />Allan Crane, of the Planning Commission, suggested the council concur with,Spring <br />Lake Park Village in the presentation of a resolution to the Minnesota Highway Department <br />to increase efforts to complete the new lane on Highway 10 from the junction of Highway 8 <br />to the west limits of our village. <br />Chief of Police John Robertus presented a letter to the Council from Patrolman <br />Schaffhausen tendering his resignation October 16, 1959. Motion by Gibson, seconded by <br />Hodges that Roy Schaffhausen's resignation be accepted and Mayor Gibson to write a letter <br />to Mr. Schaffhausen. Gibson, Hodges, italvin, Smith, aye; Christensen, abstain. Motion <br />carried.? <br />Motion by Gibson, seconded by Ho4ges that Officer Rustad's salary be increased to $150 <br />per month effective October 16, 1959. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Motion by Gibson, seconded by Smith to promote Officer Grabowski from patrolman to <br />sergeant effective October 16, 1959 with a $10.00 per month increase in salary. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />The ordinance regulating burning in the village tabled until the next council meeting <br />after study by the council. <br />Motion by Gibson, secondqd by Malvin that the County be authorized <br />to do the necessary patching of Village streets and to p1.ce a request <br />with the county for snow plowing. Motionceeriedunanimously. <br />Motion by Christensen, seconded by Malvin that a streetjight be <br />installed at the intersection of Sherwood Road and Eastwood Drive. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Motion by Gibson, seconded by Hodges that the Village Engineer be <br />instructed to bring the plat maps up to date and a copy be given to <br />the Planning Commission. Motion carried unanimously. A letter to be <br />directed to the County Auditor, County Assessor, and County Engineer's <br />office that when plats are filed with them, a separate file be kept <br />for our Village Engineer so that our plat maps in the future may be <br />kept up to date without a considerable amount of searching. <br />Motion by Gibson, seconded by Christensen for approval of the <br />budget for 1960 of $19,500. for Road & Bridge Fund, $24,500. for General <br />,Fund. Motion carried unanimously. <br />
