Proceedings of the Village Council <br />3 <br />fl }�`� <br />J .Ju j4_ <br />5/9/60 <br />A Planning Committee report was given to the council regarding <br />the sub-division by Mrs. Bak and that it was recommended said sub- <br />division be approved. Motion by Crane, seconded by Malvin for final <br />approval of said sub - division. 5 ayes, motion carried. <br />A Civic Center Committee report was given to the effect that no <br />action had been taken by this committee as yet. It was stated, how- <br />ever, that Mr. McClure was preparing architectural plans for this <br />center and that plans would be forthcoming within the near future. <br />The subject of the Industrial Development Committee was discussed <br />by the council and tabled for further action. <br />The subject of the zoning ordinance was brought to the council <br />by the attorney and that a few minor changes were to be made but <br />that the ordinance itself could be pz4ssed at this meeting. Motion <br />by Crane, seconded by Malvin that the zoning ordinance be approved. <br />5 ayes, motion carried. Upon approving of the zoning ordinance <br />Mr. Larry Grover, a citizen present, presented a petition concerning <br />the rezoning of land west of Spring Lake Road to the County line <br />between Highway 10 and County Road J to commercial zoning. Mayor <br />Crane reminded Mr. Grover and citizens concerned that at least two <br />hearings had been held in regards to the rezoning of all properties <br />zoned on the rezoning map and that this property had already been <br />rezoned to commercial. The citizens were informed, however, that <br />further rezoning of that area was not indicated. <br />A report was given by Mr. Eickstadt, chairman of the Police <br />Commission, who presented police car specifications to the council <br />stating that these specifications had been given to him by Mayor <br />Crane. These specifications were not, however, the specifications <br />prepared by the Chief of Police previously presented to the Clerk but <br />were specifications, a copy which was prepared from the old police car <br />specifications. The police commission chairman also stated that the <br />Police Department and the Commission had not met prior to the council <br />meeting but would be meeting within the near future. <br />The subject of the alternates to the Park and Playgrounds <br />Committee was brought to the attention of the council by Mr. Malvin <br />and said matter was directed to the attorney to investigate the <br />feasibility of such action. <br />Mr. Ballenger, of the Civil Defense organization, stated that the <br />rescue unit truck had been purchased and that action was being taken <br />to equip this vehicle as soon as possible. Mr. Ballenger also stated <br />that he had not been sworn in as the director of the Civil Defense <br />and presented papers for that purpose whereupon Clerk Smith perform- <br />ed the oath of office for the Civil Defense Director. Mr. Ballenger <br />also stated that the meeting of the Civil Defense organization and <br />the council at New Brighton was cancelled. <br />
