PROCEEDINGS OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL <br />VILLAGE OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />RJ MSEY COUNTY, I:INNESOTA. <br />ttj <br />A special meeting of the Mounds View Village Council was <br />called to order at 8:00 p. m,i May 31, 1960, at the Arden Hills <br />Village Hall, 140 West Highway #96. <br />Members Present: <br />Mayor PJlan.B. Crane <br />Clerk Earl E. Smith <br />Trustees Melford C. Christensen <br />Donald Hodges <br />Attorney Richard Meyers <br />Fiscal Agent Robert Ehlers <br />Engineer C. V. Comstock <br />Lester Knutson <br />Member Absent at beginning <br />of meeting: Perry Malvin. <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Allan Crane who <br />proceeded to call fcr bids for the construction of Waterworks <br />Project #1960-2 (Construction of laterals in the Pinewood and <br />Twelve Oaks areas.) lifter twice calling for bids and receiving <br />no submissions after the second call, Mayor Crane announced <br />that bids were closed. The following bids were received and <br />announced by the clerk and given to the Engineer Mr. Comstock <br />who read the amount of each bid for each project described with- <br />in the specifications: <br />1. Herbst Construction Company. <br />2. Sandstrom and Hafner, Inc. <br />3. Lam.tti and Sons, Inc. <br />4. F artini General Constractors, <br />5. Re and Excavating Co. <br />6. McKesson Sewer and Water, Inc. <br />Motion by Christensen, seconded by Hodges to accept the <br />bids and refer them to Comstock and Davis, Village Engineers, <br />for review with the specifidations for the project. 4 ayes, <br />motion carried. Mr. Malvin absent during call of roll. <br />Mayor Crane then asked for business from the floor and <br />upon such call, Trustee Christensen requested to be heard. <br />Mr. Christensen reported on the article carried in the St. Paul <br />Dispatch concerning the publicity received by the village regard- <br />ing certain actions by citizens in the village against the Vil- <br />lage Clerk. Mr. Christensen then stated that many of the facts <br />which appeared in the paper were not true and that much of the <br />news article in the St. Paul paper was instigated by one or more <br />citizens trying to do away with the present clerk by forcing his <br />resignation or as stated by these citizens "Out to get him" in <br />view of the situation surroun ;ing the clerk's election to office <br />in defeating a friend of these petbple. In view of the fact that <br />Mr. Christensen felt that much of the article in the newspaper <br />was not true or only half - truths, according to all the facts, <br />Mr. Christensen moved, seconded by Smith that a letter be for- <br />warded to the St. Paul paper asking that the paper check with <br />
