Proceedings of the Village Council
September 26, 1960.
Clerk Smith read a letter frpm Arvid Carlson and Sons in which
they wished to deed a strip of land to the village which the Engineer
stated that it amounted to about the same as a road easement. Letter
referred to the Attorney for investigation.
A letter from the Mounds View Public School District Clerk was
read by Clerk Smith. Said letter requested a r8duction of the asses -
ment on 40 acres of land at Edgewood Junior High School. It was pointed
out that the council by motion denied abatement of any assessments
at the council meeting of September 12, 1960, unless necessary because
of errors which could have been made in applying the coats to the
land in the village6 The council concurred that the assessment for
the School district should not beredu.ced for the land in question
or other School District property. The question of the type of ser-
vice line for schools on the water laterals of mains ;,raw brought to
the attention of the council by Trustee Christensen. He stated that
if the school Board desired 4 inch service connections (which was
understood to be the case) shouldn't the school be assessed according
to the cost of this hookup. The Village Engineer stated that the
situation would be appraised and the School District would be given
an additional charge at the time that the schools in question are
connected to the Municipal water system. The Clerk was also xstif
informed that he would have to notify the School District of the
amount of tAeir assessment by certified letter in accordance with
the State statutes. The Attorney was instructed to also writes a
letter concerning the abatement. The village Engineer stated that
he would also supply the council with the cost figures for the in-
stallation of a service line to the Edgewood High Cc. "' - Y'a c z would
probably be requested in the near future.
Mr. Dawson, member of the Police Commissioh stated that he checked
the hours with Mr. Tooze which he could work which council business
was being conducted and that hours which Mr. Tooze could work would
not meet the requirements for tie day shift job. Mr. Dawson then
recommended that Mr. Kish again be considered by t %e council at this
meeting so that the Day shift could be filled wit :lout delay. Motion
by Hodges seconded by Malvin that Mr. Irwin Kish be hired as a patrol'
man effective September 26, 1950 with six months probationary and 90
day probationary time for salary purposes. Salary to be 375.00 a
:ionth for the fitst three months and $150.00 per month thereafter.
5 ayes, motion carried.
