Minutes of the Meeitng of October 10, 1960 (Page 3) <br />0 0 97 <br />The subject of Mr. Howard Dahlgren being allowed to do pri- <br />vate development work on subdivision within the village was <br />brought to the attention of the council by Mr. Stole. Motion <br />made be Crane, seconded by Hodges that Mr. Dahlgren be allowed <br />to carry on private development work within the village. Upon <br />discussing the subject Mr. Christensen stated that the council <br />should gibe consideration tkai and thought as to why the previous <br />council declared it a policy that Mr. Dahlgren not be allowed <br />to carry out private development work within the village. Mr. <br />Stole also stated that Mr. Dahlgren's request was that he not <br />be allowed to do private work requested by several citizens <br />of the village as long as he is the village planning consultant. <br />Mayor Crane therefore withdrew his motion and Mr. Hodges with- <br />drew his second. This matter to be discussed at a future council <br />meeting. <br />The monthly report of the Police Commission was read by Mr. <br />Blanchard who also broug7it up the subject of recent accidents <br />on Highway #l0along the new portion. He stated that there are <br />no road signs, speed limits, etc., on this highway and there <br />have been four rec:;nt accidents involved on this stretch of <br />highway. Mr. Christensen than stated that he would call Mr. <br />Graves of the Highway department to determine is something <br />could be done about this situation. <br />Mr. Hodges reported on the activities of the Recreation Com- <br />mittee kho held a meeting on October 5, 1960. He stated that <br />the Recreation Committee recommends hiring Mr. Amos Birdsall <br />as a fill time Recreation employee and pay him from the recrea- <br />tion fund alloted in the 1961 budget at the rate of 3200.00 <br />a month. The council discussed the matter and decided that <br />this matter should be considered at a latter date. Mr. Hodges <br />also stated that sod had becn laid behind tie backstop at Oak- <br />wood field. He also stated that the council should consider <br />the possiblit of a lease from Mr. Kenneth Simonson to use <br />his land adjoining te ice skating rinkx near Hillview and <br />Greenfield. Mr. Hodges also reported that Mr. Birdsall is <br />now building dykes for t:.e Hockey and ice rinks at this time, <br />Mr. Walter Skiba posed the question of whether the skating <br />pond could be built by the new well to use the water which will <br />be pumped about the time of the first freeze -up this winter. <br />Mr. Hodges stated that the Recreation Committee would check <br />into this and determine its feasibility. <br />Mr. Piehowski, village building inspector, reported to the <br />council on a substandard house on Long Lake Road. The council <br />directed all three inspectors to inspect this house and prepare <br />a report to the council at the next meeting. Tr. Pieaowski <br />also reported that Mr. Jim Haluptzak living at 7806 Gloria <br />Circle requested thxkxx a building permit which involves splitting <br />his lot in order to build a new home and leave the present home <br />until the new building is completed. Motion by Cr-,ne seconded <br />by Malvin to allow the Buildin( Inspector to issue said permit <br />providing that the old home be moved by October 10, 1961. 4 ayes, <br />motion carried. <br />
