3 <br />Proceedings of Village Council Meeting May 8th, 1961 <br />000053 <br />The second Hearing concerned the premises located at 8384 <br />Groveland Iload, its owner Ludwig Bang present at the Hearing asked if <br />he could make a garage out of this structure. It was the opinion of <br />the Building Inspector that this would not be safe. Motion by Hodges, <br />Seconded by Malvin that Mr. Bang remove this building within thirty <br />days. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read by the Administrative <br />Clerk. Motion by Hodges, seconded by Malvin to approve minutes as <br />read. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />Fayor Crane read a letter from Mrs. Betty Wall, Village Represent -_ <br />ative and Board member of the North Suburban Hospital District re- <br />questing Five Hundred Dolllars (:500.00). Mr. Kinne, District Chair- <br />man explained that six of the eight Village of the District had <br />contributed. Motion by Crane, Seconded by Malvin to contribute Five <br />Hundred Dollars (5500.00) to the N.S.H.D. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />The Mayor asked if there were any particular problems or questions <br />from those in attendance: The fire problem and the present fire hazard <br />in large open fieldswas extensively discussed. The Mayor suggested <br />that cooperation from other neighbors and specific help from the <br />Village Civil Defense Organization should be sought. <br />The drainage problem from the Babinski property was discussed. <br />The Village Council and Engineer have this problem under study. <br />Mr. Melvin G. Johnson of 5120 No. Highway 10 reported about his <br />particular problem with the Highway Department. Mr. Johnson was <br />asked to attend a Special meeting with the Council and the Highway <br />Department. <br />The grading and surfacing of Gloria Circle was brought up. The <br />Mayor instructed the Clerk to write a letter to Mr. Dalberg for in- <br />formation regarding a Five - Hundred Dollar ($500.00 ) Bond. <br />The Public Safety report was given by the Mayor. He read the <br />Police report for April. The recommendations fo the Police Commission <br />were read. Recommendations were: Number 1: request the County to <br />reduce the speed limit from 40 to 30 miles per hour on Co. Rd. H -2 <br />between Highway 8 and Highway 10. Motion by Hodges, seconded by <br />Malvin to accept these reports and to concur with the recommendations. <br />4 Ayes for approval. Recommendation Number 2; To have the County <br />install a Stop Sign on Fairchild and Sherwood. Motion by Crane. <br />Seconded by Malvin. 4 Ayes for approval. Recommendation Number 3: <br />Arrange to have street signs on the list from the Police Department <br />corrected. Since there was no objection. Mayor Crane directed the <br />Public Works Supt. to correct appropriate signs. <br />Civil Defense Director Kenneth Ballenger reported that a voluntary <br />vehicle safety check called "Circle of Safety" would take place at the <br />Pinewood School, Co. Rd. I and Quincy St. on May 24th and 25th. The <br />Director stated that the Police Dept. would not participate in this <br />safety check. Ten safety features will be checked. The Mayor urged <br />all citizens to participate. He directed the Clerk to help with <br />Clerical work involved and advertising for this C.D. endeavor. <br />
