4 <br />Proceedings of the Village Council May 8th, 1961 <br />000054 <br />The Public Works report was given by Mel Christensen. He suggest- <br />ed that the Council request the County to remove the Load Limit signs. <br />Motion by Christensen. Seconded by Crane, to have the Clerk write a <br />letter to the County requesting removal of the Village load limit <br />Signs. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />The matter of a Variance for Ed Dropps was discussed. Motion by <br />Christensen seconded by Crane to concur with the Planning Commission <br />report. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />Public Welfare Report. Mayor Crane reported that Boy Scout Troop <br />#409 has requested the use of water from Village Hydrants. The Council <br />decided that more information was needed before permission could be <br />granted. <br />The Lakeside Park Commission Meeting was reported by Perry Malvin. <br />Present at the meeting were Halseth, Lunde, Moller, Ness and Malvin. <br />They hired Mri Haugen as Supervisor of the Swimming program for $800..00. <br />Hired as his,helpers were Halberg, Johnson and Sabatke for $1.50 per <br />hour. The Commission voted to buy a new boat. <br />The ball park schedule is to be allocated as follows: <br />Sp.Lk. Pk.... Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. <br />Mounds View * Thursday and Saturday. <br />Men's Soft Ball League - Thursday evening. under lights. <br />The Swimming program: Registration will begin June 12th. There <br />will be competitive swimmiigi Malvin requested that the Mounds View <br />Police Department help to patrol this lakeside area. Motion by Malvin <br />to send Two Thousand Dollars($2•000.00) to the Lakeside Park Commission <br />Seconded by Hodges. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />Motion by Christensen. Seconded by Crane to pay the bills as <br />submitted. 4 Ayes for approval. (See list attached). <br />Park and Playground Report by Hodges. He reported the Committee <br />met May 3rd. They decided to buy four drinking fountains for $76.00 <br />each. Baseball plates for fourteen dollars and ninety -five cents <br />($14.95) and a line marker for seventeen dollars and fifty cents($17.50) <br />Engineer's Report bir Les Knutson, who gave a Preliminary Report <br />advising as to the feasibility and. estimated cost of about $181 ;000.00 <br />on the Petitioned Water Main extensions received to April 1, 1961. <br />Mayor Crane reported that the Proposed Extension will take in <br />Streets generally North of Highway 10 and West of Edgewood Drive. To <br />get a true indication of the Property Owners Petitions for and against <br />the Water Main Extensions are requested. <br />Motion by Christensen, seconded by Hodges to adopt this report <br />and set May 31st, as the Public Hearing date to be held at the Red <br />Oak School. <br />The Engineer reported on Estimate #3- .water . Project 1960 -3, the <br />final Estimate of Lametti and Sons. There would be Five Thousand <br />Dollars ($5,000.00)withheld. He reported that it is $6,952.10 less <br />than the final bid. Motion by Crane, Seconded by Hodges to pay this <br />bill of $89,878.50 and that the one year Performance Bond be accepted. <br />4 Ayes for approval. <br />The Engineer presented an Estimate from Layne - Minnesota on the <br />Deep Well #2 stating that 120 feet of material and 500 feet of pipe <br />listed in the Estimate for a cost of $9,301.50. Motion by Christensen, <br />Seconded by Malvin Council approve for payment. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />
