H -2 <br />000067 <br />The Mayor than asked if there were any who wished to go on <br />record as favoring this Proposed Water Projects <br />The following people indicated they were in favor of the Water <br />Extension: <br />Mrs. John Lauterbach of 8193 Eastwood Road <br />Mr. Clarence Holsten of 2712 La Port Drive <br />Mr. Meyers explained that this Project will finish up everything <br />North of Highway 10. He also stated that the Council, and he agrees <br />wjth them -that Area development should be encouraged in ?dater Projects <br />because it is cheaper in the long run. He said "we know now from <br />experience that a year from now we will be getting requests for <br />Water from some of these streets that have petitioned against it. <br />The Attorney complimented the Village for installing the Water <br />Main system as it's strictly a job of developing the areas by Laterals <br />now, Using New Brighton as an example,of a Village expanding their <br />Water System by streets instead of area, which is more costly. <br />He explained that the Council could order improvements for one <br />street if there is a definite reason such as a health hazard. <br />Mr. Christensen arrived at this point - 8 :50 P.M. <br />Mr. Knutson explained the reasons for the seemingly excessive <br />cost of the Service Connection as being due to usage of copper and <br />brass fittings and pipe, etc. <br />The Water Rates were read by the Fiscal Agent for the benefit <br />of those present. <br />Mr. Ehlers explained the costs of Water Assessments on Project <br />1960. -3. Figures set are - +0025 cent per foot for Area. The cost <br />of Lateral Assessment for people butted on 12 inch mains is y4.00 <br />per foot on frontage. <br />Mayor Crane stated that the residents created a "real storm" <br />of protests (on Fairchild) when Project 1960 -3 was installed. It was <br />just a matter of 6 months that they petitioned for water on that same <br />street. <br />
