-3- <br />000078 <br />The attorney stated that the guarentee presented should be <br />included in the motion. <br />Mr. Hodges withdrew his second to allow motion to be <br />ammended. Mr. Blanchard ammended the motion so that the <br />completed motion reads as follows: that the council accept the <br />low bid of the D.W. Hickey Co. in the amount of ;44,660. for <br />the water filtration plant and that the quarentee presented <br />by the Turbomatic Co. shall become a part of the contract and <br />also bear the signature of an official of the D.U. Hickey Co. <br />Seconded by Hodges. Upon call of the roll the following members <br />voted aye- Christensen!, Malvin, Hodges, and Blanchard. Voting <br />naye- Crane. 4 Ayes motion was carried. <br />The attorney was then instructed to prepare forma -1 <br />guarentee papers. <br />The water project (1961 -1) proposal was brought up and <br />Mr. Malvin reported that a case of spinal meningitis in the <br />proposed area was blamed on the water, or the sewage, or both. <br />The matter was then tabled pending investigation of the matter. <br />The attorney read a memo re the setting up of a Police <br />Civil Service Commission and this Commission's powers and c;uties. <br />(Copy on file at village office) <br />Motion by Blanchard to purchase insurance for the Civil <br />Defense Dept. as requested. (Copy of insurance on file). Seconded <br />by Malvin. 5 Ayes. <br />Mr. Christensen reported that he and the Engineer had taken <br />a tour of the roads on water project 1960 -2 and made <br />recommendation to the contractor regarding same. <br />Mr. Knutson reported that the painting of the water tank <br />has been completed and after flushing and chlorinating the tank <br />would be back in service by Wed. morning. <br />The Mayor stated that the council world meet Thursday June <br />29th at 6:00 P.M. at the Village Office and tour the Village in <br />re to street repairs and the proposed street plan. <br />Mr. Hodges stated that the recreation Dept. had received <br />bids and awarded a contract to the low bidder (Gilbertson & <br />Surface) to put water fountains in at four village parks, <br />Mr. Malvin reported that from the registration received <br />so far in the swimming program this would be the biggest year <br />for Lakeside Park. The assistance of the local stores and <br />churches in passing out information about the program was <br />credited for a large part of the registration. As of June 23rd, <br />1961 there were 428 children and 15 adults registered at the <br />beach for the swimming and lifesaving classes. <br />The Planning Committee report was read by Chairman Milt <br />Stole,(copy on file) and the following action taken: <br />
