Sept. 25th, 1961 Council Meeting <br />000139 <br />Applications must be in Clerk's office by 4 :00 p.m,.0ctober 6, 1961. <br />Applicant must be 25 years old or older and must pass physical, written <br />and oral examination, Mounds View residents will have preference for <br />employment." Seconded by Blanchard.. 5 Ayes. <br />Ad to be placed in both local papers and both metropolitan <br />papers. <br />Mr. Christensen stated that he had discussed several road problems <br />recently with the County Engineer and made several recommendations <br />regarding roads. <br />Motion by Christensen to send work order to County: <br />Edgewood Road from Co Rd.I to Hiway 10 oil and sand <br />Greenfield from Co Rd I South 5 lots oil and sand <br />Eastwood Rd. from Co, Rdi J. to highway #10 oil and sand <br />Seconded by Crane. 5 Ayes. <br />Mr. Skiba reported that hydrants were being checked and flushing <br />of lines is taking place. He also reported that the Fire Underwriters <br />have been in the Village to examine the water system. Their approval <br />of this system can possibly mean up to 30% savings on insurance rates in <br />the Village. He further reported that an unlicensed plumber was <br />reported in the Village and was being sought for various reasons. <br />Mr. Howard Thorsen, of Dailey Const. Co. presented plans for the <br />new Irondale Inn on Highway #10 and requested Council approval. <br />Considerable discussion was held regarding the parking area and <br />it was determined that this area was adequate. <br />Motion by Crane to approve plans and instruct building inspector <br />to issue permit subject to the building inspector's approval of structure, <br />Seconded by Malvin., 5 Ayes.. <br />The Engineer reported on proposed street improvement in Clints <br />Addition. Copy of letter and proposal on file. Matter referred to <br />next agenda meeting. <br />The matter of easements on Fairchild Ave. was brought up. Mr. <br />Vern Sinderson, 8046 Fairchild Ave..,. presented easements from all but <br />two of the property owners on the west side of Fairchild and assured the <br />Council that one more was on its way to them from Mr. Daniels, who was <br />in New York at the present time. <br />Mr. Hodge stated that Mr. Porter would not give an easement <br />without payment. <br />The Attorney discussed award and settlements for easements of <br />which he was cognizant. <br />Motion by Blanchard to place Fairchild Ave. from Highway #10 <br />to Sherwood Rd. back on the 1961 -1 Water Project. Seconded by Hodges. <br />5 Ayes. <br />A resolution tocondemn the Porter property on Fairchild Ave. for <br />a 15ft, easement was presented. <br />Motion by Blanchard to adopt resolution. Seconded by Malvin. <br />5 Ayes. <br />The Council instructed the Attorney to negotiate for the Porter <br />property and to contact Mr. Christensen if agreeable price is reached. <br />
