3- <br />Mr. Richard Jones, State Representative, requested and <br />received permission to bring some matter before the Council. <br />He has been notified by Mr. Alvin Jansen of 3511 Hilltop <br />Street, White Bear Lake, Minnesota, that a possibility existed <br />that the Federal Income Tax division offices are interested <br />in locating in this general area. Mr. Jansen ownes a tract <br />of land in the S. E. corner of the Village and feels this would <br />be a good location for these offices. Mr. Jones further <br />stated that the building would be privately owned and leased <br />to the government and that there would be approximately <br />800 employees. <br />After further discussion the following action was taken: <br />Motion by Blanchard that letters be sent to our Representatives and <br />Senators in Washington regarding this matter and urging their <br />support in our behalf. Said letter to be signed by the Mayor. <br />Seconded by Malvin. 5 Ayes <br />Mr. Jones stated he has already written to Representator <br />Karth and would write further in our behalf. <br />The Ramsey County Commission have turned over to the State <br />Highway Department the matter of speed limit and school stop <br />on County Road "I" and Quincy, Mr. Jones reported. <br />Mr. Jones introduced Mr. Lee Hetrick who manages the <br />trucking business near the intersection of Highways # 8 8, #10. <br />Mr. Hetrick presented a proposal to move his business back <br />further on his property, which is zoned for shdipping center use. <br />Mayor Crane reported that he asked the Village Planners opinion <br />on this and that Mr. Dahlgren stated that he could not <br />recommend it.,as it was not the best use for this land. <br />The Council and The Village Planner are to meet with the <br />Highway Department regarding the proposed 35W. (Copy of the <br />results of this meeting to be forwarded to Mr. Jones.) <br />Mr. James Haluptzok, 7800 Gloria Circle appeared and <br />presented a preliminary plat plan for sub - division of a parcel <br />of property on Groveland Road, between Highway 10 and County <br />Road t'I!!,, This was referred to the Planning Commission. <br />A representative of the National Recorders Company of <br />Minneapolis demonstrated a speed recorder and explained its <br />function. Motion by Crane to purchase Dowden Speed Recorder <br />for$595.00. Seconded by Blanchard. 5 Ayes <br />Motion by Crane to accept minutes of February 26, 1962 <br />regular meeting as presented. Seconded by Hodges 5 Ayes <br />Motion by Hodges to accept minutes of February 27, 1962 <br />special meeting as presented. Seconded by Malvin. 5 Ayes <br />Mayor Crane presented the Police Report for February. <br />(Copy on File.) <br />Motion by Crane to advertise for bids for a new Police <br />Car. Bids to close April 9, 1962 at 8:00 P.M. <br />Seconded by Blanchard. 5 Ayes <br />
