-2- <br />The Mayor introduced Mr. John Berends, Entomologist, O d O O'?(a <br />Minnesota Department of Agriculture Division of Plant Industry. <br />Mr. Berends was requested to give some information on the <br />Canker Warm infestation. <br />His report, along with several questions and answers from <br />those present is attached. <br />Mr. Berends was thanked by those present for the information <br />he gave. <br />Mr. Hodges, gave the report from the Parks and Playgrounds <br />Commission. <br />Motion by Sullivan that the cost of tractor repairs be <br />shared between the Park Commission and the Road and Bridge Fund <br />on this basis; 25% repairs charged to Road and Bridge Fund - <br />75% to Parks and Playgrounds Commission. <br />Motion by Crane to concur with Parks and Playgrounds Commiss- <br />ion and to send order to N.S.P. to install street light at the <br />corner of Jackson Drive and Lambert Drive. Seconded by Blanchard. <br />5 Ayes <br />Mr. Malvin reported on a preliminary investigation that <br />he was unable to determine where the rats in the Twelve Oaks <br />area were coming from, but that a further investigation is planned, <br />Mr. Malvin reported that the Lakeside Park Commission had <br />accepted the low bid of Walbon Excavating Company in the amount <br />of $4,250.00 for the sight work at Lakeside Park. <br />The summer program for the Park will get underway on June 18, <br />with pre - registration on the 11 -12 -13 of June. <br />Mr. Jim Haugen was hired as Director of the park activities <br />for the second year. <br />Trustee, Sullivan reported that the road work was being <br />held up due to the rainy weather, but the County will begin <br />as soon as possible on scheduled road work. <br />Mr, Ralph Hanggi, 2475 Woodale Drive requested a building <br />permit for a garage. <br />After much discussion and searching of rules and ordinances <br />the building inspector was authorized to issue requested permit. <br />Motion by Blanchard to authorize a variance on side yard <br />set back requirements to Mr. Ellsworth Johnson, 2278 Lois Drive. <br />Variance to allow proposed garage to be within five feet of side <br />lot line, Seconded by Hodges. Blanchard & Hodges, Aye <br />Crane, Malvin, & Sullivan - Nay Motion Lost. <br />The building inspector is to notify Mr. Johnson of this <br />action and recommend a smaller garage or re- application through the <br />Planning Commission. <br />The Engineer presented the preliminary report for water <br />project 1962 -2 for study by the Council (on file in Village Office.) <br />The matter of the ditch in the Long Lake - Woodcrest Drive, <br />Irondale Road area was referred to the Engineer to confer with It' <br />Ramsey County Engineer regarding this. <br />
