-2- <br />0J0G36 <br />A memorandum from the Attorney regarding beauty shops in <br />the Village was presented. To be discussed at the next regular <br />agenda meeting. (April 15, 1963) <br />A letter from the Highway Department regarding letting of <br />bids for 35W as it concerns Mounds View was read and filed. Bids to <br />be let May 3, 1963 if possible. <br />The Mayor stated that our representative to the sewer district <br />had appeared late at two recent sewer district board meetings. On <br />February 26 he appeared at 9:05 P.M. and on March 26 he appeared <br />at 9:00 P.M. Both meetings were called for 7:30 P.M. <br />Mr. Malvin,our representative to the district, stated that <br />at both times other representative came later than he did. <br />The Civil Defense Director asked about the burning of large <br />tracts for citizens in the Village, The Council informed Mr. Jackson <br />that burning was certainly not a Civil Defense Project, unless the <br />Mayor and Council authorized it <br />The Mayor reported on a meeting he attended with the Civil <br />Defense Director regarding possible City- County Civil Defense system. <br />Motion by Crane that the Village of Mounds View is opposed <br />to the integrated City of St. Paul - Ramsey County Civil Defense <br />proposal. Seconded by Hodges. 5 Ayes. <br />The Clerk will notify the Board of County Commissioners of <br />this action. <br />Mr. Malvin reported for the Lakeside Park Commission. The <br />County Commissioner in Anoka County, to further parks, playgrounds <br />and recreation activities have made available $1500.00 to swimming <br />beaches operated with tax money and open for free public use. The <br />Village of Spring Lake Park has applied for this money and apparently <br />wished to use it as a portion of their share of the cost of operating <br />Lakeside Park. The Mounds View members of the Lakeside Park Commission <br />feel this would not be fair and equitable. The Council directed Mr. <br />Malvin to report on this again at our next regular meeting, (4- 22 -63) <br />The Mayor made a brief report on a joint meeting between the <br />Council and the NSSSD Board. <br />The Board presented a modified plan for the district, outletting <br />on Marshall Street into the Minneapolis sewer line. Initial cost to <br />be $7,000,000. They have received tentative approval from the <br />Minneapolis -St. Paul Sewer District as to hook -up and costs. <br />Final hearing will be April 30, 1963 in the Spring Lake Park <br />High School <br />Mr. Sullivan reported that the road patching was now in <br />progress, and with the purchase of the dump truck and road roller <br />a better job would result. <br />All school buses operating in the Village cooperated and <br />changed routes from roads that are badly breaking up. <br />The need of a portable scale for checking truck weights <br />was discussed and referred to Mayor Crane. <br />The matter of collection of money for a broken hydrant at <br />Groveland and Highway # 10 was referred to the Attorney. <br />
