-2- <br />UJU O / <br />ctrtbt <br />Mr. Strangis, one of the attorneys for the Lametti & Sons firm, <br />presented copies of several letters sent to the Council, the Village <br />Engineer and the Village Attorney and requested that these letters <br />becomea portion of tie official minutes of this meeting. (Request <br />granted - copies filed with official copy of minutes.) In these letters <br />the firm pointed out several items, mainly; <br />1. An error had been are in computing the bid. L ., <br />2. This error amounted to $54,471.00. <br />3. They had filed notice before the award was made of withdrawal <br />of said bid. <br />This was discussed very thoroughly by all Councilmen, Attorney, <br />Engineer, Citizens, etc. <br />Engineer 's statement; " In examination of the bid as submitted, <br />I find no obvious errors." <br />Attorney listed three alternatives facing Council: <br />1. Reject,e,all bids and readvertise. <br />2. L y L <br />Accept bid as submitted. <br />3. Proceed against contractors bond as bid stated " No bids <br />may be withdrawn within 30 days." <br />Attorney's recommendation: <br />" The bid appears valid, therefore I recommend to the Council_.the <br />acceptance of this bid." <br />Question on the motion. 5 Ayes. Motion Carried. <br />During the remarks -on the above motion Mrs. Samuel Fried question- <br />ed whether the Council had acted within the time limit set by law in <br />ordering the project after the public hearings. A check of the minutes <br />is to be made to show her that the Council had .a,ne so well within the <br />time limit. She will also receive'.: copy of a letter to the Council <br />from Comstock &Davis, Engineer regarding this project. <br />Mayor Hodges reported that the Village has leased seven F.H.A. <br />homes and subleased these to disaster victims for one dollar for the <br />first month and $50.00 a month thereafter. <br />The B & E Patrol report for April was read ani filed. <br />The Police report. for April was read and filed. <br />Mr. Rustad read a letter of resignation from Officer Erwin Kish, <br />(On File) <br />Motion by Rustad to accept resignation of Officer Erwin Kish <br />effective June 1, 1965 and to direct the Clerk's Office to prepare a <br />letter of appreciation to him for the fine service he has rendered the <br />Village. Seconded by Layaque. 5 Ayes. <br />!iir. La Vague reported-that sewer work was progressing and that <br />emporary patching is being done to make the detours usable. <br />The Building Inspector was - directed to contact the owner of 2296 <br />Lois Drive in regard to a rebuilding problem. <br />
