-3- <br />The building that formerly held the Tom Thumb Supermarket and was <br />condemned after the Mzy 6th Tornado is a serious hazard according to <br />reports from Police, Citizens and Inspectors. The Attorney was <br />directed to notify the owners to raze the building in a short time <br />or the Council would have to order it done and assess the property <br />for the costs of razing. <br />The matter of the Chies Brothers removal of an excessive <br />amount of fill from the Schroeder property was discussed and the <br />Attorney was directed to notify the County to order the contractor <br />to stop this removal, as no permit for excavation has been issued <br />and he is in fact creating a swampy area. The Mayor will attempt <br />to determine if the owner of the property has allowed this removal. <br />Motion by Blanchard to grant the subdivision request and <br />necessary front footage variance to Mr. G. Hillsdale, 6951 Knollwood <br />Drive as per application on file. Seconded by Rustad. 4 Ayes. <br />La Vague Abstained. <br />The Clerk was directed to direct a letter to the Highway <br />Department requesting (Mounds View Village) signs be placed at the <br />North and South ends of the Village on 35W - Highway # 8 - Highway # 10. <br />Mr. Charles Jackson, Civil Defense Director, reported that <br />the new truck was not complete according to the inventory and that <br />Mayor Hodges will aid in settling ttis matter with the State Civil <br />Defense Department. <br />The Engineer gave the current Sanitary Sewer and read report <br />and presented the preliminary report for permanent resurfacing of <br />County Roads. <br />Motion by Blanchard to accept the preliminary report on <br />street improvement project 1965 -1 ar,d to order the final plans <br />and specs from the Engineer. Seconced by Rustad. 5 Ayes. <br />Motion by Rustad to advertise for bids on Street Improvement <br />Project 1965 -1. Bids to close September 27, 1965 at 7:30 P.M. <br />Seconded by Hodges. 5 Ayes. <br />(The above two motions regarding l965 -1 street improvement projects <br />are a portion of the over -all Sanitary Sewer surface water drainage <br />and street improvement program. Original Public Hearings held on <br />Qecember 5, 12 and 19, 1963 and January 14, 1964. The improvement <br />was ordered on March 23, 1964.) <br />The Engineer was instructed to inspect the damage discovered <br />in the water utility building and to report to the Council regarding <br />probable cause and estimate as to the repair cost. <br />Motion by Blanchard to adopt Resolution <br />certain assessments. Division # 35223. Seconde <br />ividing <br />stad. 5 Ayes. <br />The inspection department will direct letters to homeowners <br />in the tornado area, who have not yet started to rebuild, about <br />filling in their basements. <br />Motion by Blanchard to pay bills submitted totaling <br />$232,303.28. Seconded by Hodges. 5 Ayes. <br />
