Motion Carried 5 Ayes <br />/) MOTION made (Walser), seconded (Rusted) to approve bills totaling $ 15,774.00. <br />Notion Carried 5 Ayes <br />The Clerk was directed to withhold the check to Midl,ay Ford pending Chief <br />Grabowski's approval (relating to warrenty repair work on the new police wagon). <br />MOTION made (Walser), seconded (Johnson) to approve retroactive to January 1 <br />a new wage scale of $2.25 per hour for the Deputy Clerk, Marilyn Lidberg, with a <br />raise of 15 cents per hour after one year of employment and $2.00 per hour for <br />clerk typist Marlys Overson. Insurance premiums will be paid if employees request <br />coverage, but salaries will remain the sane whether insurance coverage is provided <br />or not. Motion Carried 5 Ayes <br />The Clerk commented that the new wage scale was more in line with industry <br />standards. The Clerk also stated that a complete employee agreement covering vaca- <br />tions, sick pay, etc. would be drafted and presented at a future meeting. <br />Mr. L. J. Blanchard recomended additional office help be hired and cautioned <br />against exceeding 54 hour maximum (female employees) as specified by law. <br />MOTION made (Walser), seconded (Johnson) to amend the motion approving the <br />bills to read: approval of checks numbered 704 through 709, 711 through 759, 761, <br />762, 1060, and 3013 through 3050. (instead of stating exact total of bills) <br />Motion Carried 5 Ayes <br />Bob Edmund had no report. <br />Wally Skiba had no re;)ort. <br />Charles Jackson presented a check for $84.00 for matching funds and as:;ed that <br />it be credited to the Civil Defense budget. After a clarification of the matching <br />funds term, the Mayor assured Mr. Jackson that the check would be credited to the <br />Civil Defense account. <br />The Attorney reported on his study of payments to terminated village employees <br />citing five cases on record. On the basis of his study, Attorney Meyers recommended <br />payment through the last day worked. Notice was given prior to December 1, 1966. <br />Mr. Blanchard referred to the resignation of the first Police Chief. He resigned <br />later withdrew his resignation and did receive some additional pay. Mr. Blanchard com- <br />mented on the extra hours worked by Mrs. LaCasse in attending Council meetings, work- <br />ing on voter registration, and in elections. Mr. Blanchard stated that he felt that <br />taking back the check for an extra two weeks pay would be wrong. <br />Clerk Walser commented on the apparently considerable time off taken by Mrs. <br />LaCasse as being sufficient reimbursement for extra work hours previously mentioned. <br />At the request to be more specific, Clerk Walser mentioned that extra benefits received <br />by Mrs. LaCasse included payment by the village of private telephone calls. The Decem- <br />ber phone bill alone included at least $12.70 of Mrs. LaCasse's personal calls. <br />MOTION made (Johnson), seconded (Lang), to pay Mrs. LaCasse one day's pay for <br />\ the last day worked (December 16, 1966).
