- 4 - <br />Mayor Rustad then called for residents comments. John Krawczyk, 5128 Eastwood <br />Drive, questioned traffic flow and the adequacy of the buffer zone. Mr. Copeland <br />stated that the traffic would be directed down Ridge Land or Brighton Lane.and <br />that they would be happy to hire a traffic engineer to study the problem. Also <br />stated that they would provide fencing if residents desired fencing. <br />Wayne Jones, Brighton Lane, was against the proposal because the traffic would <br />be directed to school grounds at Sunnyside school. <br />Richard Paradise, Eastwood and Woodcrest, was against. He asked the Engineer <br />if in fact water was not a problem since we are in the process of constructing <br />additions to our utility system. The Engineer stated that the HUD specifications <br />required that our water utility system provides usage up to 1988. Richard <br />Paradise also questioned the adequacy of the police force in the event this <br />project was constructed. Proposed development would bring in approximately <br />1,500 more people to the community. Norman Chervany was against the proposal. <br />He stated that this was not the place for the development, residents suffer <br />intangible losses. He questioned if there was no other area in the community <br />for such a development. <br />Howard Neisen, 5150 Irondale, asked about the land East of Long Lake Road. <br />Mayor Rustad stated this would be discussed later in the meeting by another <br />developer. <br />Paul Kraska stated he had not heard a response to Mr. Chervany's question. <br />Gerald Tesch, 5135 Long Lake Road, was against the proposal. Donald Sandstrom, <br />5130 Greenwood, stated that he wanted a stable neighborhood and he questioned <br />the transients this project would bring in. Mr. Kobe, Brighton Lane, against <br />the proposal. <br />Milt Stole, Chairman of the Planning Commission, stated that the developers <br />have a right to propose a development such as this. Mr. Rosenbush, 5065 <br />Rainbow Lane, would like the area to stay residential. John Robertus, said <br />he was opposed to the proposal. He stated the Brighton apartments were <br />ghettos. Ernest Johnson, Red Oak Drive, wants a study made and wants all <br />construction stopped on apartments until such a study is made. Mrs. Ralph <br />Kieffer, 5180 Bona Road, against the proposal. <br />Milt Stole stated the area North of County Road H2 was presently zoned light <br />industrial. Harold Hjelle, 5161 Red Oak Drive, said zoning is actually R3 <br />North of H2 and it would provide an adequate buffer to the I -1 zoning to the <br />North. He was against the proposal. <br />Mayor Rustad stated he would like a show of hands of those against the proposal. <br />Approximately 200 persons raised their hands. Mayor Rustad asked for a show of <br />hands for those for the proposal. Approximately five people raised their hands. <br />David Mueller, 5175 Red Oak Drive, then proceeded to explain that in his opinion <br />a comprdmise of some sort could be reached. He was opposed to the development <br />but he felt that they did have a legitimate right to petition for the development <br />and that he felt that he would not be opposed to the proposal if it was resubmitted <br />as long as some provisions for additional single family residences would be included. <br />He then proceeded to give a short history of the community and its development. <br />He stated previously farmers were against having their lots divided into <br />residential property, before that probably the Indians were opposed to the <br />farmers. <br />
