5 <br />Mayor Rustad called the rezoning hearing to order at 8:30 P.M. Request is to <br />rezone Lot 51 Auditor Subdivision #89 from B3 Commercial to R3 Multiple Dwelling. <br />Clerk Zylla read the legal notice which was published in the New Brighton Bulletin <br />August 28th and September 4th. Approximately 32 persons were sent legal notices. <br />Joe Strangis, builder, outlined briefly the petitioners request. Mr. Strangis <br />stated that he would build approximately 46 units on the property. Leroy Tower, <br />1945 Oakwood Drive, would prefer to see the land residential. Charles Larson, <br />developer, spoke in behalf of Jamison Brothers, the owner. He stated that the <br />apartments were the lesser of the two evils. Joe Strangis stated that the <br />individuals in the audience should check the buildings which have been built by <br />him in the Village. Primarily the one located on Silver Lake Road in the 7100 <br />block. That if this would be the case many of the residents apprehensions would <br />be eliminated. John Stoike, 7728 Knollwood Drive, desired information if the <br />driveway would be off of Highway #10 or if traffic would be filtered onto <br />Oakwood Drive. Developer Larson stated that all traffic would go off of Highway <br />#10. Vern Kimble, 1955 Oakwood Drive, also questioned access. <br />Mayor Rustad called for objectors to the proposed rezoning. There were none. <br />There were approximately ten persons in the audience concerned with the rezoning. <br />The Mayor closed the hearing at 8:40 P.M. <br />MSP (Johnson /Malvin) To rezone Lot 51 Auditor Subdivision #89 from B3 Commercial <br />to R3 Multiple Dwelling conditionally subject to all access to be off of State <br />Trunk Highway #10, adequate screening in conformance with Ordinance #67, and the <br />approval of the site plan. <br />Mayor Rustad's Report <br />Mayor Rustad read the B & E Report and the Police Report. The B & E Report was <br />for the months of January through July 1969. The Police Report was for August <br />19 69 . <br />Mayor Rustad also read a letter of proclamation regarding the 1970 Open at <br />Hazeltine Country Club. <br />4 Ayes <br />MSP (Johnson /Malvin) To advertise for bids for a 1970 police station wagon <br />for October 13, at 8:00 P.M. 4 Ayes <br />Clerk- Administrator Zylla's Report <br />MSP (Rustad /Johnson) To approve the licenses as follows: Asphalt - H & 0 <br />Blacktop Company, Inc.; Heating - Barnes Heating and Air Conditioning and <br />Stu Rothgeber Plumbing & Heating Inc. <br />4 Ayes <br />MSP (Blanchard /Malvin) To approve the following bills: General Checks <br />#3533 -3564, Bond check # 480 and Payroll checks #1043 -1062. Total Disbursements <br />$44,112.00. 4 Ayes <br />Clerk Zylla also made two announcements. One announcing that the Village will be <br />reading meters the end of this month and that all interested persons should contact <br />him at the Village Hall. In addition the Village election will be held November 4 <br />this year and that anyone interested in being an election judge or counter should <br />also contact him at the Village Hall. <br />
