- 3 - <br />Councilman Neisen's Report <br />Councilman Neisen reported that the maintenance department is currently finishing <br />the crackfilling on the atreets to be sealcoated. <br />Councilman Johnson's Report <br />Councilman Johnson read the minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of August 17th. <br />MSP (Blanchard /Hodges) To approve the preliminary plat of five lots for Jim Lund <br />Second Addition. Legal description of the existing lots: All of lot 12 and 13 <br />except the N 90' of the E 130' of Block 2 Greenfield Addition. 4 Ayes <br />MSP (Johnson /Hodges) To issue a building permit to James Lund to construct a <br />single family home on Lot 2 Jim Lund Second Addition.; 4 Ayes <br />Attorney Meyers gave the Council an interpretation of Section 3.4 regarding <br />accessory buildings and set backs stating that a garage is an accessory building <br />and that unless it is constructed nearer than six feet to a home it must be <br />constructed in the rear yard. It appeared that in no case could a garage be <br />further ahead of the house than the front line. The Council referred the matter <br />back to the Planning Commission to study clarification of the ordinance. <br />MSP (Neisen /Johnson) To approve the Subdivision of lot 80 and the S 38' of <br />Lot 81 Spring Lake Park Knolls Addition into two 85' lots subject to granting <br />of an easement on the W 30'. Subdivision application for John Wharton, 7190 <br />Silver Lake Road. <br />Councilman Johnson read a letter from the George M. Hanson Company stating that <br />they are planning their work program and they would like to have Council <br />consideration to retaining them as auditors for 1971. There was no action <br />taken at this time on this request. <br />Councilman Blanchard announced that next Monday would be the first Village <br />budget meeting for 1972 budget. <br />Attorney Meyers' Report <br />Attorney Meyers reported on the Community One proposal stating that the New <br />Brighton Village attorney had requested an opinion from the Attorney General <br />on the legality of expending funds for this purpose. The Council decided to <br />take no action until the opinion has been granted. <br />Engineer Boehm's Report <br />4 Ayes <br />MSP (Blanchard /Neisen) To set an assessment hearing for Project 1971 -1 and <br />1971 -la Sewer and Water for September 13th at 8:30 p.m. 4 Ayes <br />Engineer Boehm reported on the street mileage to be sealcoated this year and <br />1972 and 1973. He stated that in 1971 10.2 miles will be sealcoated. The cost <br />will be approximately $27,000. In 1972 5.3 miles and in 1973 6.6 miles will be <br />sealcoated. Total estimated cost of the 72 and 73 sealcoat using 1971 prices <br />would be approximately $30,000. He felt the Village should consider combining <br />the 1972 and 1973 sealcoat program. <br />
