- 3 - <br />Councilman Johnson instructed Attorney Meyers to determine whether we have a <br />legal basis to go after the entire amount in full. <br />Councilman Johnson's Report <br />Councilman Johnson stated that fire hydrants in the Village were presently being <br />cleared of snow and that residents could assist in keeping the hydrants near <br />their homes cleared thereby saving the municipality the expense involved in <br />doing the job. <br />Councilman Baumgartner's Report <br />Councilman Baumgartner stated that a list of proposed improvements and suggested <br />maintenance for 1972 will be submitted shortly to the Clerk. <br />Councilman Baumgartner stated that the Boy Scouts will be requested to aid in a <br />park clean up on April 29th. Councilman Baumgartner also stated his desire to <br />have a few new members on the Recreation Committee. <br />Councilman Baumgartner read the Planning Commission minutes from January 18th. <br />MSP (Baumgartner /Hodges) To approve the subdivision of Except the N 184' and <br />Except the S 191' of the N 375' of the W 234.1' of Lot 38 Auditor's Subdivision <br />89 into a lot 85 feet by 211 feet bordering on Spring Lake Road and the part <br />remaining subject to granting a 30 foot easement to highway on the East. <br />MSP (Hodges /Pickar) To approve the issuance of a special permit to Arnold <br />Elmquist of 8140 Long Lake Road to construct a 12' X 30' accessory building. <br />After some discussion as to whether the semi trailer parked on the Minar Property <br />is a trailer or a sign, the Clerk stated he would send Wilmus Properties a <br />building permit application for a sign in order that they could comply with the <br />building code. <br />Councilman Pickar's Report <br />Councilman Pickar reported that he was unable to attend the last Lakeside Park <br />meeting but that he has read the request of Mrs. Haake, acting as a private <br />citizen, seeking to dissuade the City of Fridley from establishing another beach <br />on the west end of the lake. He related his support for her letter. <br />Walter Skiba reported that last Saturday he appeared in Justice Court to support <br />a charge against a local heating contractor for failure to obtain permits. The <br />contractor was double feed by the judge. <br />Robert Glazer, Planning Commission member, related that he feels the need for a <br />Village development plan to determine our optimum land uses. Attorney Meyers <br />stated that he felt it may be difficult to uphold our zoning ordinance in <br />litigation as time passes unless consideration is given to a new plan in the <br />future. The last comprehensive plan was finished in 1960. <br />Mayor Neisen announced that the Mounds View Appreciation Dinner has been <br />scheduled for February 19th. <br />Mayor Neisen also made a request for citizens in the Village to exercise courtesy <br />by moving vehicles off the streets to that snowplows can adequately do their job. <br />5 Ayes <br />5 Ayes <br />
