PROCEEDINGS OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL <br />VILLAGE OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />June 12, 1972 <br />The Regular Meeting of the Mounds View Village Council was called to order by <br />Mayor Neisen at 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 12, 1972 at the Village Hall, 2401 <br />Highway #10, St. Paul, Minnesota 55112. <br />Present: <br />Mayor Neisen <br />Councilman Hodges <br />Councilman Johnson <br />Councilman Baumgartner <br />Councilman Pickar <br />Also Present: <br />Utility Billing Clerk Sandgren <br />Attorney Meyers <br />Engineer Boehm <br />MSP (Hodges /Pickar) To approve the minutes of May 22, 1972 and to approve <br />the minutes of the Special Meeting of May 24, 1972. 5 Ayes <br />Mayor Neisen's Report <br />Mayor Neisen read the police report for May. <br />Mayor Neisen read a letter of resignation from Marilyn Lidberg, Police Secretary, <br />effective August 4, 1972. <br />MSP (Neisen /Hodges) To advertise for a new police secretary starting date to be <br />July 31, 1972. 5 Ayes <br />Mayor Neisen read a letter from Twin City Red Barns, Inc. which has been authorized <br />by the United States Olympic Committee to conduct a special, one -time national fund - <br />taising drive for the benefit of the U.S. Olympic Team. The Red Barn restaurants in <br />this area will be participating in this nationwide fund drive starting June 27th and <br />ending July 24th. June 28th is the only day that door -to -door solicitaions will be <br />allowed in Mounds View. All proceeds will be turned over to the United States Olympic <br />Commuittee to help send our U.S. Team to the 1972 Summer Olympic Games. <br />MSP (Pickar /Hodges) To waive the solicitors fee to Twin City Red Barns, Inc. for <br />the fund raising drive. The solicitors are requested to pick up a soliciting pass <br />from the Village Hall before beginning the campaign. 5 Ayes <br />Residents Requests and Comments from the floor <br />Barbara Haake reported that the posts had not been replaced along the south side <br />of Spring Lake and there is no trash barrel. She suggested a barrel could be <br />chained to the tree there. Mayor Neisen said it is the County's responsibility to <br />replace the posts and they had been notified about three weeks ago. The police were <br />alerted to check the area more often and issue summons to violators and to restrict <br />cars from the area. <br />Robert Glazer colluuented on the blind corner at Hillview and Eastwood. There is an <br />unoccupied house there and the shrubbery has grown up. Inspector Skiba stated that <br />perhaps since FHA has it now they would allow the Village to remove the hedge. <br />Inspector Skiba and Chief Grabowski will check into the matter. <br />Mrs. Caroline Basterash of 8000 Greenwood Drive commented on the poor condition of <br />khe swings at Hillview Park, and railings missing from the slides. She suggested <br />that perhaps a street light in the area would help. Councilman Baumgartner commented <br />that the swings would not be replaced now because no money is available when they <br />"take" the swings. Also they wouldn't be replaced at the same spot due to the newly <br />erected fence. Plans are to move the swings further East. Councilman Hodges <br />
