- 3 - <br />Councilman Baum artner's Report <br />Councilman Baumgartner read the Planning Coinauission Report for May. <br />Jr. Beim appeared before the Council with Mr. Don Nordbloom, architect and Mr. <br />Nordbloom's associate and Mr. Julius Bonello, an attorney. Mayor Neisen presented <br />the location maps for the motor freight terminal on 13 acres of the Mounds View <br />Industrial Park. Mayor Neisen asked if the Pollution Control Agency was represented. <br />Utility Billing Clerk Sandgren stated she had talked with Mr. Dick Starn of the <br />Air Quality Engineer Department and they were not interested in being present tonight <br />but they would like to be notified at a later date when more specific plans were <br />available. At the present time there are no regulations on noise polution but <br />they are working on it. <br />Attorney Bonello was asked how many vehicles would be involved at one time. He <br />specified 150 -200 which included tractors and trailers. <br />Mr. Beim stated he had talked with Ken Simons of the County Green Area. Five to <br />ten acres of swamp land would be left undisturbed. Mr. Nordbloom stated the property <br />would be fenced and landscaping will be done, there would be a dust proof area with <br />some parking. <br />Mr. Robert Glazer said he had talked with both the P.C.A. and the Rice Creek Water <br />Shed and that they would want approval of the Council subject to their endorcement. <br />He stated the trailers would accumulate diesel soot and would have to be washed off. <br />There would be a lot of run off. <br />Mr. Nordbloom stated that any water would be handled thru the sewer line, not run off. <br />Attorney Bonello said they are contemplating putting in an automatic washing machine. <br />At the present time they have one man who is a part time washer. <br />Engineer Boehm stated that the property could be graded so the water flowed toward <br />Rice Creek. It should be checked into how much water would be used. <br />Mayor Neisen suggested that perhaps the water could be recycled so it wouldn't be <br />an overload on our sewer system. <br />Councilman Johnson stated that the car washes recycle the water. <br />Mr. Glazer asked about the weight of the trucks. Attorney Bonello said the gross <br />weight was 73,000 pounds. <br />Mr. Glazer asked about the noise the trucks would create, and if adult shrubbery <br />could be placed to absorb the noise. <br />Architect Nordbloom said the area would be fenced and landscaped. Mr. Glazer presented <br />a representative situation of weighted sound level which showed trucks at 85. <br />Attorney Bonello said they would be using Highway #96 most of the time. <br />Attorney Meyers asked how many units would be involved, and what the building would <br />be like. Attorney Bonello stated the platform area is 325 x 80 ft. and had 30 doors. <br />Mr. Nordbloom said the outside would be brick and stucco. <br />Attorney Meyers asked about gas pumps. Mr. Bonello said it would be an inside fueling <br />system or covered. <br />
