-5-
Councilman Johnson asked Planning Commission's Milton Stole which was the
best exit plan onto County Road I. Mr, Stole replied that the center needed
some exiting from Highway #10 to relieve traffic on I and Long Lake Road. He
felt moving the County Road I exit further west and out of line with Greenwood
Drive would be hazardous.
Councilman Johnson asked about lease arrangements. Mr. Paster stated that no
tennants were now under lease, but that letters of committment were granted,
and that construction could start in 45 days.
Councilman Hodges felt that the center would be an asset to the community, that
in this day and age we are continually living with traffic problems.
Mayor Neisen felt that the Highway #10 exits were necessary and that the exits
onto County Road I should be moved so as not to line up with Greenwood Drive.
MS (Hodges - Pickar) To rezone the Paster property requested in the legal
notice from B -1 to B -3 for a shopping center,
MS (Neisen- Johnson) To amend the original motion to approve the rezoning
subject to providing entrances or exits on Highway #10.
After considerable discussion and a statement by Mr. Paster that to attach
such a condition to the proposal may kill his entire project, Councilman
Johnson withdrew his second to the amended motion. A vote was then taken on
the original motion which passed. 5 Ayes
The Council implied in the granting of the rezoning that further progress
should be made to seek entrances off of Highway #10 and to work in cooperation
with the County of Ramsey regarding entrances and exits on County Road I and
Long Lake Road.
MSP (Johnson - Baumgartner) To adjourn the hearing at 10:21 P.M. 5 Ayes
Councilman Baumgartner's Report(Con't)
Councilman Baumgartner stated that the Village would be placing signs along
Hillview Road and Greenwood Drive in an attempt to restrict parking to one
side of the street.
Councilman Baumgartner announced that a Recreation Committee meeting would be
held Thursday evening with Ken Simons of the Ramsey County Open Space Department
in attendance.
Councilman Pickar's Report
Councilman Pickar announced that the Human Rights Commission would meet
Tuesday, April 24, 1973.
MS (Pickar - Hodges) To authorize the Village to use revenue sharing funds not
to exceed $4,000.00 as a Village 1/3 share for a temporary traffic signal at
the intersection of Quincy Street and County Road I.
Councilman Pickar's motion was amended.
