- 4- <br />MSP (Johnson- Hodges) To adopt Resolution #605 apportioning assessments on <br />Division #46545 for Capetz and Werner. 5 Ayes <br />Clerk Zylla read a letter from Paster Enterprises requesting the extension of <br />the water main to service the shopping center development proposed for the <br />area west of Long Lake Road and south of County Road I. <br />MSP (Pickar- Johnson) To accept the petition requesting the improvement, and to <br />order the engineer to prepare a preliminary report and cost estimate. (Project <br />1973 -5). 5 Ayes <br />Clerk Zylla announced that the bond and formal application were received for <br />the July 8th Polka Festival at the Bel -Rae Ballroom. <br />Clerk Zylla announced that he attended the Ramsey County Open Space Commission <br />Meeting on June 4th, requesting the inclusion of certain parcels in Mounds View <br />in the ripen space plan. The proposal was referred to their planning staff. He <br />felt that chances were slim that the areas would be acquired, due to the limited <br />funding that the County must contend with. <br />Clerk Zylla stated that he has received notification from the State Highway <br />Department right -of -way section that certain excess taking parcels for new TH10 <br />would be appraised and released for sale to Mounds View. He suggested the Council <br />consider their possible acquisition: for ponding areas. <br />Robert Glazer asked that the Council take final action on a possible golf course <br />in the industrially zoned area north of new Highway #10. Mr. Glazer stated <br />that there never was formal action by the Council to consider continuing pursuit <br />of the idea or voting against it. <br />Clerk Zylla stated that the State Legislature appropriated $2,700 for a 12 W. <br />matching basis if the Village would enter into a contract with the State Department <br />of Manpower Services to employ summer youth. The rate of pay is $1.60 per hour <br />for 30 hours per week with a ten week maximum. Further information is coming at <br />a meeting scheduled for June 12th. The Council authorized the Clerk to enter <br />into a contract with the State. <br />Councilman Baumgartner's Report <br />Councilman Baumgartner stated that letters were written to Dr. Witter, Superin- <br />tendent of School District #621, requesting the use of the northwest corner of <br />the Edgewood School property for a Mounds View skating rink, and to Lewis Downing <br />asking him to negotiate with the Village for the property north of Woodcrest Park. <br />Councilman Baumgartner said that there was a Recreation Commission Meeting with <br />several property owners who live on the east side of Groveland Road south of <br />County Road I to discuss the possibility of the Village acquiring for a park the <br />lots which front on Silver Lake Road. There was overwhelming opposition to the <br />Recreation Commission's proposal. <br />Councilman Baumgartner said that the Recreation Commission will have a special <br />meeting on June 14th. <br />
