He added that the City will be expected to prepare a communications <br />plan before any funds may be given. <br />Councilman Johnson's Report <br />The City Council will meet Jan. 22 at 8:00 P.M.for a meeting to discuss whether or <br />not the City wants to proceed with the recruitment of a Public Works Superintendent <br />or instead a Public Works Director who would be a registered engineer. <br />Councilman Baumgartner's Report <br />Councilman Baumgartner read the Recreation Commission minutes of December 22nd. <br />Councilman Baumgartner stated that on January 10th, the Council and Recreation <br />Commission held interviews for the Director of Parks and Recreation. Five <br />individuals were invited to be interviewed but three declined due to the acceptance <br />of other positions. <br />MSP (Baumgartner- Hodges) To offer the position of Director of Parks and Recreation <br />to Mr. Douglas Bryant commencing about February 15th or March 1st at a gross salary <br />of $13,000.00 per year with a car allowance of $25.00 per month. 5 Ayes <br />Councilman Baumgartner read the Planning Commission minutes of December 26th. <br />MSP (Baumgartner - Pickar) To approve the subdivision request of Gerald Foss to <br />subdivide Lot 4, Auditor's Subdivision #89 except the South 30 feet of the East <br />300 feet, into three lots with a width of 85 feet and 252 feet by 280 feet depth <br />on Spring Lake Road. 5 Ayes <br />MSP (Baumgartner- Pickar) Relative to Lot 8 and the East 1/2 of Lot 9, Spring Lake <br />Park Knolls Addition, to concur with the Planning Commission's request of December <br />26th and confirming that no building permits will be issued for this development <br />until the Council receives its recommendation from the Planning Commission. 5 Ayes <br />Councilman Pickar's Report <br />Councilman Pickar reported the Lakeside Park Commission met on January 10th. He <br />requested that notice of their meetings be put in the Newsletter. He confirmed <br />that the Human Rights Commission was seeking two new members. <br />Attorney Meyers' Report <br />Attorney Meyers brought up the matter of severance pay for James Schlichtmann. He <br />was instructed to research the matter to determine if Mr. Schlichtmann had a valid <br />claim to severance pay and report back to the Council. <br />
