-2- <br />Administrator Zyy.11a explained that there has been two meetings with the <br />Federal Civil Defense staff and that the City is requesting that the <br />federal government participate in the basement cost in the amount of <br />$53,240.00. <br />Mr. Gene Skiba, reporter for the New Brighton Bulletin, asked if library <br />space will be provided. The Administrator explained that he had spoken <br />to someone from the Library previously while the project was in preliminary <br />planning stages and that a follow -up contact will be made with library <br />personnel. <br />Nancy Burmeister, 7565 Knollwood Drive, asked what was the construction <br />schedule. Mr. Walijarvi explained that it takes three to four months for <br />plans, one month to bid, and approximately one month to get contracts signed <br />once they are awarded. <br />Mayor Neisen explained that the project is actually in three parts: <br />1. Construction of the new addition. <br />2. Remodeling of existing space at the City Hall. <br />3. Remodeling of the Public Works Building. <br />Mrs. Barbara Haake, 3024 County Road I, encouraged the Council to construct <br />the basement even if federal monies are not available. <br />MSP (Neisen - Baumgartner) To direct the architect to commence work on the <br />preparation of final plans and specifications for the purposes of soliciting <br />contractor bids. 5 Ayes <br />Robert Glazer asked since no bonds were to be sold for this project, whether <br />or not bonds will have to be sold for some other project in the near future. <br />Mayor Neisen answered that there are no plans for other bond issues at this <br />time.
