Mr. Charles Mertensotto, attorney representing Dailey Homes, the owner of the <br />property stated that the change in zoning to R1 from Commercial would depress the <br />market value of his clients property. <br />Mr. Richard Gillman, 7565 Groveland Road stated that Mr. Thorsen purchased the land <br />as R1 and would not be losing any money. <br />Mr. Arnold Marquette, 7584 Groveland Road stated he would not want commercial devel- <br />opment there because the streets were too narrow. <br />There were no further comments from the floor. <br />MSP (Baumgartner- Johnson) To authorize the change in zoning from B3 to R1 for Lots <br />8 and 9 Spring Lake Park Knolls Addition because the subject property is spot zoned, <br />commercial zoning would cause traffic problems thereby endangering the safety of the <br />residents and the welfare of the neighbors in the immediate area, and taking into <br />consideration the recommendation of Midwest Planning and the City Planning Commission. <br />5 Ayes <br />Prior to the vote Mayor Neisen cautioned the Council that they must only consider <br />the health, safety, and welfare of the residents in considering this matter. <br />Attorney Mertensotto asked if this was the final action on this matter.
