-2- <br />If the County does not purchase it, the owners are contemplating platting <br />the property for residential development which would place an additional tax <br />burden on the school district and our citizens. <br />MSP (Neisen - Pickar) To adopt Resolution #636 stating that the City Council of <br />Mounds View urges the Ramsey County Open Space Commission to purchase the <br />Brightwood Hills Golf Course and that the Council desires to make this known <br />to the Commission. <br />5 Ayes <br />Mr. Paul Kos, 5731 Quincy Street, asked if this would also cause tax burden <br />on citizens, because the golf course would have to be maintained. <br />Mayor Neisen responded that golf courses are revenue producing operations <br />and usually will pay their own way. <br />Mayor Neisen read a letter from Police Chief Grabowski regarding safety on <br />County Road H for children walking to and from Sunnyside School, Chief <br />Grabowski recommends a uniform 30 mph speed limit on this street. <br />The Mayor read a letter from the Sunnyside PTA that included a petition <br />recommending that the City of Mounds View study possible solutions to this <br />same problem. They also recommended the uniform 30 mph speed limit and <br />suggested that amber flashers be installed on the school zone signs. <br />MSP (Neisen- Johnson) To adopt Resolution #637 requesting that the Ramsey <br />County Engineer establish a uniform speed limit of 30 mph on County Road H <br />from Edgewood Drive to the Anoka County line and that installation of <br />flashing amber lights on school zone signs along County Road H be considered. <br />The Council urges the County Engineer to make a study of the problem if one <br />has not already been made. If such a study is or has been made, the Council <br />requests a copy. <br />5 Ayes <br />MSP (Pickax- Hodges) To recess the regular meeting at 8:37 P.M. <br />5 Ayes <br />The Public Hearing was called to order on the assessment for improvements <br />at Mounds View Square and Programmed Lands 1st Addition. <br />Engineer Bearden reported that Project 1973 -5 for Mounds View Square cost <br />$31,323.86. He recommended a ten -year term of assessment. The Mayor asked <br />for comments from the audience, and there were none. <br />MSP (Neisen- Johnson) To adopt Resolution #638 to assess the property as <br />recommended by the city engineer at 87 interest and a ten year term of <br />assessment. <br />5 Ayes <br />Engineer Bearden reported that Project 1973 -6 for improvements at Programmed <br />Land 1st Addition totaled $34,074.93. The Mayor asked for comments from the <br />audience, and there were none. <br />MSP (Neisen- Hodges) To adopt Resolution #639 to assess the property as <br />reported by the city engineer at 8% interest and a ten year term of assessment. <br />5 Ayes <br />MSP (Hodges - Baumgartner) To adjourn the Special Hearing at 8:43 P.M. <br />5 Ayes <br />
