-3- <br />Mr. Stowasser, 7846 Long Lake Road, asked who would be paying for the <br />semaphores. <br />Mayor Neisen answered that the County and State would split the cost <br />at County Road I. At County Road H2 the State would pay one -half, the <br />County one - fourth, and the City one - fourth. However, the City's one - fourth <br />will be paid out of MSA funds. Operating costs will be split similarly. <br />Mr. Ole Bacon, 2625 Highway #10, stated that making Eastwood and Greenwood <br />one -way streets might be a good interim solution so that once new Highway <br />#10 is completed the City is not stuck with a number of dead end streets. <br />Mr. Stowasser suggested that it might be better to put the light at Long <br />Lake Road rather than County Road I. <br />Mr. VanWormer stated that the Long Lake intersection had been considered <br />but eliminated, because the distance between intersections would not allow <br />proper synchronization of the lights. <br />Mr. Fiedler, 8040 Eastwood, stated that he had passed a petition in which <br />8 out of 20 of the Eastwood residents had been in favor of a cul -de -sac, <br />and thus he felt this was the proper solution. <br />Mr. Ole Bacon stated that he was opposed to the cul -de -sac, because it is <br />a handicap for Eastwood residents between County Road I and Hillview Road. <br />Engineer Bearden suggested that a median on County Road I extending past <br />Eastwood could solve the problem for both Eastwood and Greenwood, <br />Mr. VanWormer stated that this might be a good idea. <br />Mr. Buckley, 7770 Greenwood Drive, stated his concern that if a shorter <br />median were installed, Greenwood Drive would get all the left turn traffic, <br />and this could be solved by extending the median to his street. <br />Mr. Bob Glazer stated his support for constructing cul -de -sacs on both <br />Greenwood and Eastwood. <br />Engineer Bearden stated that the Mounds View Square parking outlet does <br />not line up with Greenwood. Thus an opening in the median could be provided <br />for the outlet, but the median would still prevent left turns into Greenwood. <br />Mr. Ed Donatelle suggested postponing construction of islands or medians <br />to allow time to evaluate the impact of the semaphores. <br />Mr. VanWormer noted that the legal time requirements for contracting such <br />work would mean that medians and islands could not be installed until at <br />least ten months after the decision had been made. <br />Mr. Bob Larson stated that he favored blocking Greenfield. <br />Mr. Ed Donatelle argued that Woodale was too narrow to accommodate all the <br />traffic that would result from blocking Greenfield. <br />Mr. Martinson, 2127 Pinewood Drive spoke in favor of the semaphores on Highway <br />#10. <br />
