-4- <br />March 24, 1975 <br />Councilman Pickar's Report <br />Councilman Pickar reported that the Lakeside Park Commission met Thursday, <br />March 13, with a discussion follow up on the Silver Skates Competition. <br />It was decided to hold the activity again next year. <br />Judy Rowley, member of the Lakeside Park Commission, reported on the <br />Miracle Slide being purchased for Lakeside Park this year. The cost <br />is $1,799.00 plus freight and it will be delivered in the next few weeks. <br />The slide will be placed in the new lighted playground area. Councilman <br />Pickar stated that the next Lakeside Park Commission meeting will be April <br />10th. <br />Councilman Shelquist's Report <br />Councilman Shelquist reported that the regular session of the Planning <br />Commission is this Wednesday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m., at Pinewood School <br />IMC. Mr. Breault, 5405 Adams Street, appeared before the Council in appeal <br />to his variance request which was denied by the Planning Commission. Mr. <br />Breault is requesting permission to build a large garage. <br />MSP ( Pickar- Baumgartner) to set a public hearing for 8:30 p.m., Monday, <br />April 28, 1975, to consider this appeal in accordance with the city <br />ordinance. <br />Councilman Baumgartner and Shelquist reported on the meeting of the <br />Ramsey County League which they attended at Shoreview city hall last <br />Wednesday. Discussion centered on assessed valuation in the Twin Cities <br />area. Ramsey County has the lowest assessed valuation in the seven county <br />area. A computer system such as Hennepin County has was proposed. It <br />would eliminate the tax assessor and the judgments of the tax assessor. <br />Assessed value will be based on market prices of homes in the area. <br />5 Ayes <br />Councilman Baumgartner stated that the proposed snowmobile ordinance did <br />not received enough input from municipalities or snowmobile clubs. A request <br />was made for a subcommittee to be established to study this. <br />Engineer Bearden's Report <br />Engineer Bearden reported receipt of a letter from Brentwood Development <br />Co. on proposed White Oak Estates #4 regarding utility services for this <br />parcel. This is a simple extension of utilities and the area was included <br />in the initial publication of Project 1973 -4. The utilities can be <br />extended under the contract we have now. This will not be done, however, <br />until the property is divided and of record. <br />Engineer Bearden stated that Twin City Testing Laboratories is their <br />recommendation to perform soil tests in the 1973-4 Project area. <br />Engineer Bearden asked about the Planning Commission checking into allowable <br />lot sizes on the new street for installation of the correct amount of <br />utility services. Councilman Shelquist stated the Planning Commission will <br />report back to him as soon as possible. <br />Engineer Bearden stated the schedule of compliance for Water Treatment Plant <br />No. 1 is on or before March 31, 1975 for purpose of backwashing into the <br />municipal sewer system. The city should send a letter to the Metro Sewer <br />
