Page 2 <br />September 8, 1975 <br />Administrator Achen explained that the original permit granted by Council <br />lapsed the end of August. The Lion's had difficulty getting organized <br />and were not able to actually hold the flea market until this past <br />Sunday. <br />Mr. Waste reported that the flea market last Sunday produced 16 cars <br />on the lot with 250 people looking around. Four cars were sold on the <br />spot and there were other requests for call backs. He asked Council <br />permission to grant an extension to the special use permit and also <br />to post permanent signs along the highway to advertise for the event. <br />M (Shelquist) to extend the permit for the used car flea market up <br />until October 12th Council meeting with provision that the signs be <br />taken down during the week. <br />Mr. Waste protested taking them up and down. He said he would rather <br />a decision be made one way or the other. <br />Motion died for lack of second. <br />Mr. Waste said this is a non - profit organization that has made a <br />commitment for $3,500 to buy equipment for Unity hospital. They have <br />paid them $500 and are supposed to pay $3,000 by the end of the year. <br />This money has to be replaced in the hospital budget. The Lion's have <br />invested $300 in signs and advertising for the flea market. <br />MSP (Baumgartner- Hodges) to approve the request for a temporary special <br />permit for Mounds View Lion's Club through October 12 to operate a <br />used car flea market at the Launching Pad parking lot and that all <br />signs north of Highway 10 on Launching Pad property be removed on <br />October 12th and that all signs south of Highway 10 be removed on <br />September 14, 1975. <br />Shelquist Aye <br />Baumgartner Aye <br />Hodges Aye <br />Johnson Aye <br />Mr. Waste asked if he could negotiate the special permit by mail <br />to Council if the Lion's decide to continue with the venture <br />after the special permit expires. <br />Mayor Johnson said a written request for the sign and permit could <br />be acted on by Council without them coming back again. <br />Mayor Johnson recessed the regular meeting at 8:35 p.m. <br />Mayor Johnson called to order Project 1974 -1 assessment hearing <br />continued from August 25, 1975 meeting. <br />Mayor Johnson reported that the administrator had received word <br />from Smith Transfer and they now agree to the assessment of the property. <br />Engineer Bearden reported the assessment amount if $17,004.98. <br />
