-6- <br />Mayor Johnson also mentioned once again the open house and dedication <br />of the new city hall scheduled for December 7 at 1:30. Hon. Senator <br />Mondale will be the guest speaker at 2:00 p.m. All of the Council <br />should plan to attend. A letter was received from Governor Anderson <br />expressing his regrets that he could not attend. Mayor Johnson also <br />said that he and Administrator Achen attended a League of Ramsey County <br />Local Governments meeting in No. St. Paul and stated that they are <br />looking for direction. <br />As a final item, Mayor Johnson asked for a progress report on Chapter 40. <br />Councilman Shelquist stated that the progress was very good. They <br />have covered about 25 pages and have about 25 pages left. A meeting <br />to finish was scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, at 7:00 p.m., to <br />get all of the problems worked out, and then the Council will get <br />together with the Planning Commission. <br />COUNCILMAN HODGE'S REPORT <br />Councilman Hodges has received one snowmobile complaint: that of <br />racing up and down on Woodcrest. This should be checked out by the <br />police. Also perhaps it would be a good idea to check on the <br />"cars for sale" on weekends in the church parking lot at Hillview <br />and Highway 10. <br />Mayor Johnson mentioned that Mr. Gillespie has 12 or 15 cars at his <br />residence and asked Administrator Achen to talk to the police chief <br />and point out this problem to him. There is no need for any more <br />warnings. <br />COUNCILMAN BAUMGARTNER'S REPORT <br />No report. <br />COUNCILMAN PICKAR'S REPORT <br />Councilman Pickar mentioned the Eagle Award ceremony he had attended <br />earlier this evening and thought that the Council should extend its <br />congratulations to Jerry Tri. He also questioned as to where the <br />funds for the flag pole would be coming from. Mayor Johnson answered <br />that the Jaycees had made $400 or $500 on the Haunted House at Halloween <br />and that was one of the ways it was suggested to them to donate it. <br />COUNCILMAN SHELQUIST'S REPORT <br />The Planning Commission is meeting this Wednesday evening for their <br />second meeting for the month of November. He asked if provisions <br />had been made for a meeting with the storm water engineers. Administrator <br />Achen stated that they had met with them and they have not placed <br />piezometers yet and are trying to establish the sites to put them on. <br />Councilman Shelquist further suggested that the agenda meetings be <br />held in the Council Chamber so that the door can be left unlocked <br />but still maintain control of it, so it would remain a public meeting. <br />He also did not feel that Bill and Ed's Used Car Lot was observing <br />the proper setback from the road. <br />
