Council meeting
-9- January 12, 1976
Members are needed at Lakeside Park and on the Human Rights
Commission.
Mayor Johnson stated that the City Appreciation Benefit is
February 7.
COUNCILMAN SHELQUIST'S REPORT
Administrator Achen was asked to find out regarding Robert Bruflodt's
lot split. The neighbor to the north wanted less than a 50/50
lot split but he wanted to wait and see what had taken place in
the Bruflodt lot division. It was 180 x 100 and 273.2 x 100. It
was recorded at the County as 150 x 100 and 305.2 x 100. Conse-
quently, Councilman Shelquist felt that the sketch plan system doesn't
work, and feels we may have to go to survey on all lot splits.
Administrator Achen replied that the Council's position at one time
was not to require the plat. There was the preparation of an
ordinance on that basis. Mayor Johnson inquired as to what a
survey was going to do. Councilman Shelquist asked what the County
has to go on when a lot split is recorded at this point? Admini-
strator Achen replied that the deed is stamped saying that the lot
split did take place and was approved. It is encumbent upon the
staff to see that it is stamped as it was approved by the Council.
Mr. Bruflodt's deed was not checked by anybody except himself.
Mayor Johnson asked if we should have Mr. Achen develop an ordinance
where we begin requiring a plat on minor subdivisions. Councilman
Shelquist replied that he was concerned that we do not have enough
control to prevent someone from doing what he pleases. Councilman
Baumgartner stated that the staff is now reviewing these deeds
and comparing them to the original subdivision request and he would
be concerned about the additional expense.
Administrator Achen stated that he would find out exactly what kind
of cost would be involved and will report back.
ATTORNEY MEYERS' REPORT
The assessment appeal was continued until the middle of March.
Councilman Shelquist stated that he would like to have the staff
check with New Brighton and see the status of Bill & Ed's Auto
Repair located there.
MSP ( Shelquist- Pickar) to adjourn at 11:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
70a),d0a,A,„_
Mark Achen
Clerk - Administrator
