PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />A special meeting of the Mounds View City Council was called to <br />order by Mayor Johnson on January 5, 1976, at 7:07 p.m. at <br />Edgewood Junior High School, 5100 Edgewood Drive, Mounds View, <br />Minnesota. <br />Present: Mayor Johnson Also present: Administrator Achen <br />Councilman Hodges <br />Councilman Baumgartner <br />Councilman Pickar <br />Councilman Shelquist <br />Mayor Johnson explained the purpose of this meeting was to get <br />input from Mounds View residents on water drainage problems they <br />are having. <br />The Mayor introduced Roger Short of Banister Short Elliott <br />Hendrickson & Associates,who discussed the engineering study. <br />Mathiesen, James B., 5059 Longview Drive - water in basement <br />even last December, began in April, came in laundry room first. <br />Bought house in 1972, some water problem because poor grading, <br />1974 County graded east side of Woodcrest and water standing <br />ever since. Steady stream on north side of house. Houses <br />north same problem, too. <br />Soebbing, William, 5105 Eastwood - June problem started, dried <br />once and water came again in August. Water level came up to <br />first concrete block, then pressure forced it through and buckled <br />part of floor. Installed sump. Water gushed out when broke <br />floor. Several houses on his block had same problem. <br />Carlson, Dave, 2646 Clearview - water shortly after tornado. <br />Hairline cracks in slab. Early June water reached level of <br />floor drain, about 3/4 ". Eleven tier basement w /11/2 exposed. <br />Level topped second blocks. Installed gutters, drain tile <br />and sump interior in July. Sump kept operating until near <br />end of October. <br />Haake, Barbara, 3024 County Rd. I - wonder how soon after report <br />is submitted will construction occur. <br />Hjelle, Harold, 5161 Red Oak - no water in basement. Asked <br />whether there were good reference points for ground water elevations. <br />Mathiesen indicated Silver Lake Road near Woodcrest drains to <br />east then has only small culvert in which to escape. <br />
