September 27, 1976 Page 16 <br />Councilmember Rowley stated she felt the planter would be more headaches than <br />it would be worth and she would rather see shrubby around the base if the <br />sign appears too stark. Councilmember Shelquist agreed because the planter <br />may detract from the sign. <br />MSP (Shelquist - Pickar) to authorize the Staff to call for bids on the City <br />sign as presented tonight omitting the planter and have the bids opened at <br />11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 1976 5 ayes <br />PROPOSED EXTENSION OF WATER SERVICE TO GREENFIELD PARK <br />Mayor Pickar stated that the Staff recommends delaying installation of <br />water lines until next year because other funds may be available through <br />the Public Works Bill. For the 1976 -77 skating season, the City of New <br />Brighton has agreed to flood Greenfield Skating rink at least twice per <br />week at a rate of $12.00 per hour. The estimated total expenditure for ' <br />this service is $400. <br />MSP (Pickar- Hodges) to accept the Staff recommendation to delay installation <br />of the water service and contract with the City of New Brighton for flooding <br />the rink for the 1976 -77 skating season. <br />Engineer Hubbard explained that if the City went out for bids now they <br />probably would not be competitive this late in the year. 5 ayes <br />ENGINEER HUBBARD'S REPORT. Engineer Hubbard stated that at the end of last <br />week during the close of the hydrant flushing, we found a high volume of <br />sand in Well #4. He suggested this well be shut down. He stated he would <br />like authorization to have this pump pulled and investigated which could <br />cost from $3,000 to $5,000. If rebailing is necessary, the cost could be <br />from $10,000 to $20,000. Engineer Hubbard explained that it was really <br />hard to estimate the cost before he knows what is wrong. <br />MSP (Shelquist- Rowley) to authorize the Engineer to obtain quotations for <br />pulling the pump and investigating Well # #4 located at Hillview and Edgewood. 5 ayes <br />ATTORNEY MEYERS had no report. <br />COUNCILMEMBER HODGES had no report <br />COUNCILMEMBER BAUMGARTNER had no report. <br />COUNCILMEMBER ROWLEY had no report. <br />COUNCILMEMBER SHELQUIST had no report. <br />MAYOR PICKAR'S REPORT.
