Page 8A <br />October 6,1976 <br />To: Mark Achen Clerk- Administrator <br />From: Chuck Hubbard, Director of Public,Works <br />Subject: Purchase of Four Wheel Drive Pickup and Plow <br />A total of 9 bids were received at the bid opening on Monday, <br />October 4, 1976 at 11:00 AM. Twenty -nine copies of specifications <br />were sent to area dealers. Of the 9 bids received, only 5 were <br />qualified bids. The other 4 bids did not neet the specifications. <br />A summary of how the bids were analyzed together with a copy of the <br />specifications is attached. <br />From the bid analysis it appears that items A and B were <br />difficult to meet by the prospective bidders. Item A called for <br />a 400 cubic inch V8 with 2 barrel carburetor. Those bids that did <br />not meet this specification used a 4 barrel carburetor. The 2 barrel <br />carburetor was specified because of its fuel economy. <br />Item B specified that the vehicle be equipped. wi_th_automatic <br />transmission with super cooling package and auxilary transmission <br />oil cooler. Those bids that did not meet this specification either <br />could not provide an automatic transmission with lock out hubs (item <br />D) or could not provide super cooling package and; an auxilary <br />transmission oil cooler. The automatic transmission was specified due <br />to the fact that this vehicle will be driven by many different operators. <br />A super cooling package and an auxiliary transmission oil cooler was <br />specified because this vehicle will be used to snow plow which puts <br />a lot of pressure on the transmission. The pressure on the transmission <br />causes the transmission to get hot.
