Mayor Pickar called the meeting back to order <br />at 10:35 p.m. <br />ADMINISTRATOR ACHEN'S REPORT <br />Administrator Achen stated he wanted to thank the League of Women Voters for the <br />time and effort they put into the voter registration. They manned the City Hall <br />hours for voter registaration. He stated that there were almost 215 new registrants <br />during these hours. The League has also been active in conducting other registration <br />drives and has prepared an insert for the newsletter with a biographical sketch of <br />each of the candidates. Their Meet the Candidates meeting will be October 19. <br />ENGINEER HUBBARD had report. <br />ATTORNEY MEYER'S REPORT Attorney Meyers stated that the Mayor was served with the <br />Dumas appeal. <br />COUNCILMEMBER BAUMGARTNER'S <br />Councilmember Baumgartner stated that he did not have a report from the Parks <br />and Recreation Department. He informed the Council of some bad comments he had heard <br />aboutthe Bel Rae amusement area. Councilmember Baumgartner stated he would like the <br />Administrator to instruct the Police Chief to comment through a department memo <br />what happened an if there are any problems. <br />Councilmember Gaumgartner also stated that the mobile home on the Moaga <br />property was allowed by special permit. Now that property is changing hands <br />and the special permit should be revoked. Administrator Achen stated that the <br />staff notified the executor of the estate of this. The mobile home has been <br />leased for the school term. Administrator Achen stated staff hopes to work out <br />some type of agreement for removal of the trailer no later than the end of the lease <br />period. <br />COUNCILMEMBER ROWLEY'S REPORT Councilmember Rowley stated that the Lakeside <br />Park Commission will meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m. <br />COUNCILMEMBER SHELQUIST'S REPORT Councilmember Shelquist stated that he received <br />a call at work today form a very upset wife. A nieghbor had come over as soon as <br />she got home and threatened her and swore at her because he had received a citation <br />this morning do.to the number of cars he has and the type of business he has. Six <br />to eight cars are in his driveway every day. There was a shell of a car with no <br />wheels or upholstery, which has been moved into the garage and another car without <br />wheels was up on jack stands. This morning a later model truck had a for sale <br />sign on it. The person receiving the citation said he was "going to punch Mr. <br />Shelquist in the nose." This person was here tonight at the meeting but did <br />not make any comments. There is nothing the Council can do, but Councilmember <br />Shelquist stated he felt it was significant that the person appeared after his <br />wifes car drove in the driveway since it was obvious that he came to talk to his <br />wife while he was at work. Councilmember Shelquist stated he delayed his arrival to <br />meeting tonight to give ample time for the neighbor to make contact. <br />Councilmember Shelquist stated he was concerned that situations like this cause <br />people to knuckle under or move quitely out of the City. The City should <br />vigorously enforce the ordinances and if the Council does not have the guts <br />enough to enforce them we Gould have the guts enough to take them off the books. <br />Councilmember Shelquist stated he does not think he is the only citizen in the <br />City that has undergone this type of situation.
