February 14, 1977 Page 5 <br />Councilmember Rowley stated that at this time, with the direction from <br />the comprehensive plan and comments from the citizens, she would be <br />against the rezoning for this use on this particular property. <br />Councilmember 7iebarth asked how Mrs. Dahlin would feel about this type <br />of building next to her. Mrs. Dahlin stated that she hasn't given it <br />much thought. Mr. Jackson stated that it would be a nice looking <br />building. <br />Councilmember Ziebarth stated that he was trying to weigh the impact <br />on the people that live there. Most of the comments received are from <br />people on Groveland Road. He stated that the best use would be to <br />look at the extension of Knollwood before talking about the use of <br />the land on Highway 10. Councilmember Ziebarth stated that at this <br />time he was not ready to rezone that land. <br />Mayor Pickar stated that Ir. Jackson could get some action going on <br />extending Knollwood. This would open up a lot of buildable land and <br />he could possibly split his property and rezone part of it. The <br />land could not be split now because it would create land - locked <br />property. <br />MSP (Rowley - Baumgartner) to deny the request of James 5. Jackson to <br />rezone 2235 Highway 10 from R -1 Single Family Residence to 5 -2 General <br />3usiness District because it is in direct conflict with the City's <br />Comprehensive Plan in that it would tend to further concentrate commercial <br />development along Highway 10 and this would be a strip commercial rezoning, <br />because t` a zoning r— ' ^st is ;rematire with the extension of Knollwood <br />Dr. south being in question and because of the testimony received that <br />the rezoning might further add to possibilities of a public <br />nuisance. 4 ay'; <br />,Administrator AchFon reviewed the procedure for circulating a petition <br />on the extension of Knollwood. <br />Councilmemher Ziebarth stated that something should be done about the <br />speaker system at the gas station if it is anoying to the residents. <br />Administrator Achen stated that it is almost impossible for the City <br />to know about problems like this unless they are there at the time it <br />is a problem. Administrator Achen suggested that the residents contact <br />the Police Department with a complaint. <br />Mr. Gross stated that there is a fence inbetween his property and the <br />gas station and the gas station stores junk behind the fence so it can <br />be seen from his property. Mr. Gross stated that it is because of this <br />experience that he doesn't want any more commercial development. <br />Mayor Pickar closed the public hearing at 8:50 p.m. <br />At 8:51 p.m., Mayor Pickar opened the public hearing on the REVISION TO <br />TflE ZONING CODE. <br />
