March 27, 1978 Page 10 <br />Councilmember Ziebarth stated that he had spoken to Jerry Farhman, Bill Doty, <br />Neil Loeding and Milan Illig and that while they had not given him a positive <br />answer, they indicated they would like to serve on the Task Force. <br />Mayor Pickar stated that Rose Langenberger and David Notaro would also like to <br />be on the Task Force. <br />Mr. Sargent stated that all eight members of the Steering Committee would like <br />to serve on the Task Force. Mayor Pickar asked if Mr. Sargent would consider <br />heading the Task Force. Mr. Sargent replied he would. <br />Glen Dawson stated he would also like to serve on the Task Force. <br />Mayor Pickar stated that anyone else interested in serving on the Task Force should <br />attend the April 3 meeting and that a notice would be put in the New Brighton <br />Bullet -n. <br />Councilmember Baumgartner pointed out that Resolution #889 which the Council had <br />just passed stated that the Council will vote on the chairperson and stated that <br />he would like to be able to vote. Mayor Pickar replied that the chairperson <br />could be voted on at the April 10 Council meeting. <br />Ray Lang stated that now was the time to proceed with what the Steering Committee <br />had promised to do, and stated that they would like to work with the Council <br />but not for it. He added that there would be a spirit of cooperation but that <br />he was not too thrilled about being under the thumb of the Council. Mayor Pickar <br />replied taht the Council is not trying to control the Task Force. <br />Mr. Dawson stated he felt the Task Force must make suggestions to the Council but <br />that the Council is the governing body and that is the way it is done legally. <br />Mayor Pickar stated that the City Council cannot delegate authority to another <br />body to make decisions but could delegate authority to make recommendations only. <br />Mr. McCarthy suggested continuing the discussion at the April 3 meeting to get the <br />ball rolling. <br />Mayor Pickar again stated that the Task Force would be meeting April 3 at 7:30 PM <br />at City Hall and invited anyone and everyone who was interested to attend. <br />MSP (Pickar - Ziebarth) to make the members previously mentioned by appointment to <br />the Citizens Storm Sewer Advisory Task Force effective March 27, 1978. 5 ayes <br />MSP (Pickar - Ziebarth) to adjourn the meeting at 9:25 PM. 5 ayes <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />6thalcAe4„1 <br />Mark Achen <br />Clerk /Administrator <br />
