January 8, 1979 Page 10 <br />Administrator Achen reported that eight applications have been received <br />so far for the Clerk- Administrator position. He stated that copies <br />will be given to all Councilmembers. <br />Administrator Achen presented the proposed schedule recommended by <br />department heads for Council orientation. Councilmember Rowley <br />pointed out there was a conflict with the January 27 date, and it was <br />agreed to change that to February 3. <br />Administrator Achen stated that the January 18 meeting would begin <br />at 4:30 PM and would be a dinner meeting, at a location which will <br />be announced. Council tours of city departments will begin at 8:00 AM <br />on Saturday, January 20, and again on February 3rd. <br />ATTORNEY MEYERS REPORT <br />Attorney Meyers reported that on occasion the City receives claims from <br />residents for damage from sewer backup and so forth. He stated that the <br />City requires the claims be submitted, and they are then turned over to <br />the Public Works Supervisor who reviews the claim to determine if the <br />City was at fault. He added the Council could become a hearing committee <br />for claims. <br />COUNCILMEMBER HODGES had no report. <br />COUNCILMEMBER FORSLUND had no report. <br />COUNCILMEMBER ROWLEY'S REPORT <br />Councilmember Rowley reported that the Lakeside Park meeting would be at <br />Mounds View City Hall on January 11. She added that they are considering <br />changing all their meetings to the Mounds View City Hall. <br />Councilmember Rowley reported that she had a request that when a <br />Councilmember has a prepared statement, they have copies available for <br />citizens to follow along on. <br />Councilmember Rowley stated she would like to thank Administrator Achen <br />for all he had done for the City and wished him the best of luck in his <br />new job. <br />COUNCILMEMBER ZIEBARTH'S REPORT <br />Councilmember Ziebarth reported that he would be attending the SIP for <br />CAA meeting on January 10. <br />Councilmember Ziebarth stated he would like to extrapolate from the con- <br />dolences of Councilmember Rowley to include a sincere thank you to Admini- <br />strator Achen, a gentleman of high perspicacity and great sapience. He <br />added that although his departure may have a, deleterious effect on the City, <br />or in the least, to some degree exacerbate the present situation, he would <br />like to wish him a great future of success and good fortune. He also added <br />that he would like to thank Administrator Achen for his improved vocabulary. <br />
