March 12, 1979 Page 5 <br />COUNCILMEMBER ROWLEY'S REPORT <br />Councilmember Rowley reported that Bob Bartkus was appointed to the <br />Lakeside Park Commission. She also reported that they had heard from <br />Ramsey County regarding Lakeside Park, and that basically the County <br />had listed several improvements they would require before they would <br />consider taking the park, which amounted to approximately $50,000. <br />Councilmember Rowley stated that the Commission had written back to <br />the County, pointing out to them that it was financially unworkable <br />for them to put in the improvements and that they had put a good deal <br />of money into the open space program. She stated that they are still <br />waiting for an answer back from the County. <br />Mr. Linke stated that it might be appropriate for the Council members <br />to contact Mr. Orth for any help he might be able to provide. <br />COUNCILMEMBER ZIEBARTH'S REPORT <br />Councilmember Ziebarth reported that Irondale High School had won the <br />Region 2 hockey tournament and would be competing in the State tourna- <br />ment and recommended that the City recognize them for their achievement. <br />MSP ( Ziebarth- McCarty) to proclaim the week of March 11 -18 as Irondale <br />Hockey Week in recognition that the Irondale Hockey Team has won Region <br />2 in the hockey tournament and will represent the region in the State <br />Tournament on Thursday, March 15 at 7 :05 PM, and also to recognize the <br />outstanding accomplishment of the group. 5 ayes <br />Councilmember Hodges stated he would like to see a congratulatory letter <br />sent along, Acting Administrator Anderson replied that he would handle <br />it and also suggested that the sign board outside City Hall could also <br />be used for congratulating the team. <br />COUNCILMEMBER HODGES REPORT <br />Councilmember Hodges reported that he had been attending the Youth <br />Service Bureau meetings and that they were having financial problems this <br />year. He explained that the Bureau has written letters to the county <br />and school district, asking for financial aid. <br />COUNCILMEMBER FORSLUND'S REPORT <br />Councilmember Forsiund reported that the water treatment plant at City <br />Hall is being sand - blasted and repainted and will take two to three weeks <br />to complete. She also reported that she had visited the office of Comstock <br />& Davis with the maintenance supervisor for the meeting with H & A Con - <br />tractors to review the specifications for the cleaning and repainting of <br />the water tower and water treatment plant #1. <br />Councilmember Forslund reported that the Maintenance Department has been <br />working on grading the streets, using a grader from the County when <br />available. The sand and salt used from the County was on an experimental <br />basis reuse of sand and salt caught in holding tanks from street runoff. <br />There was no charge for this. <br />Councilmember Rowley stated that she would like Staff to check and see <br />how much money has been spent from the snow removal budget so far and <br />
