March 26 minutes Page 2 <br />MSP (Ziebarth- Rowley) to approve the minutes of the March 26, <br />1979, meeting as corrected. 5 ayes <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS AND REQUESTS <br />Neil Loeding, 5046 Longview Drive, requested permission to tape <br />record the Council minutes. He cited an example of a court <br />case that allowed such recordings. Attorney Meyers responded <br />that that was not a Ramsey County court case. Discussion ensued <br />on the pros and cons of allowing tape recordings -- inhibiting <br />discussion, admissibility of recordings as court evidence, etc. <br />MSP (McCarty - Forslund) that the Council allow meetings to be <br />recorded. 4 ayes <br />(Ziebarth) 1 nay <br />Bill Doty, 3049 Bronson Drive, questioned having Council <br />packet materials available to the public. Councilmember Rowley <br />will provide Council with the survey Shoreview did regarding agendas, <br />minutes and Council packet availability to the public. <br />APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA <br />MSP (McCarty - Ziebarth) to approve the consent agenda, except Items <br />H & I, as follows: <br />ITEM A. Authorize staff to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding <br />with Carpenter's Union Local #7 for the use of the City <br />voting machines and staff support services at a fee of $750.00, <br />with a damage deposit of $6,000.00. <br />ITEM B. Authorize staff to execute an agreement with N.S.P. for the <br />installation of one street light at 8409 Knollwood Drive, <br />ITEM C. Authorize staff to purchase on printing calculator with tape <br />for the City Water Department at a cost not to exceed $75.00. <br />ITEM D. Establish Saturday, May 5, 1979, as the annual citywide <br />Clean Up Day. <br />
