He also explained that the <br />fence would be constructed so that 2 or 3 addi- <br />tional feet could be added if noise was found <br />to be a problem. Mr. Butler gave a presentation <br />using charts to show common noise levels and <br />what is anticipated from the development. He <br />summarized by saying that Tyson's wants to be <br />a good corporate neighbor. <br />Steve Weiss, 2822 Dickens Lane, stated he was a <br />resident of the trailer park and worked second <br />shift and didn't want to be woken up during the <br />day with the noise of the trucks. He added that <br />he felt a sound barrier wall would devalue his <br />property. <br />Candy Duchein, 2232 Dickens Lane, stated that <br />they already have a noise problem from another <br />trucking company across the street from the <br />proposed development. She also stated she <br />was concerned with the childrens safety as <br />they played in the area. Mr. Butler pointed <br />out that the wall would serve as a protective <br />carrier also, to keep the children off the <br />trucking property. <br />Patricia Magnuson, 2228 Dickens Lane, stated <br />she had lived at the trailer park for seven <br />years and did not want the development as <br />she felt it would provide a noise problem. <br />Mayor McCarty closed the public hearing and <br />reopened the regular meeting at 9:15 PM, <br />Councilmember Doty asked if refrigeration <br />units would be used, and what their approxi- <br />mate number would be. Mr. Tyson replied <br />that all their units were refrigeration units <br />and that they would all be in the yard only <br />once a week, usually on Saturday. He added <br />that the units are not started up until they <br />are fully loaded and the driver is ready to <br />pull out. <br />Councilmember Forslund stated that she was <br />concerned about the noise levels and quoted <br />from a letter from the Minnesota Pollution <br />Control Agency, dated May 28, 1981. <br />ouncilmember Hodges stated that he felt the <br />wall would be helpful as a sound barrier and <br />that he did not feel the refrigeration trucks <br />would create much noise. <br />
