RESOLUTION 7848 <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH ARCHITECT MECHANICAL INC. FOR HEATING <br /> IMPROVEMENTS AT THE PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE FACILITY <br /> WHEREAS, the Public Works maintenance building (building) was originally <br /> constructed around 1952 and expanded with an addition in 1987; and <br /> WHEREAS, heating of the building is comprised of different types of systems, some of <br /> which have been modified, added to, converted, or taken out of service in an attempt to <br /> provide proper and cost effective heating of the building spaces; and <br /> WHEREAS, changes to the heating systems, including heating units taken off-line for <br /> safety reasons, have resulted in some building areas having inadequate heating environments <br /> for regular maintenance activities to occur; and <br /> WHEREAS, Public Works staff discussed and evaluated the heating issues with <br /> Architect Mechanical Inc., who provided a combined quote for$10,900 to furnish and install all <br /> labor and materials to extend a branch of the radiant tube heat system, replace a non- <br /> functioning waste oil unit heater with a new 250,000 BTU natural gas unit heater, and other <br /> miscellaneous and related work to address the poor heating issues; and <br /> WHEREAS, monies are available in the 2011 Budget under the Special Projects Fund <br /> (251-4160) to fund the proposed heating improvements. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds <br /> View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br /> 1. The combined quote for $10,900 submitted by Architect Mechanical Inc. for furnishing and <br /> installing a radiant tube heater branch, a 250,000 BTU natural gas unit heater, and other <br /> miscellaneous and related work is hereby accepted by the City. A 10% contingency of <br /> $1,100 is approved to cover some minor electrical work and other potential unforeseen <br /> construction costs and requires approval by the Public Works Director. <br /> 2. The Public Works Director is directed to prepare a construction contract between the City <br /> and Architect Mechanical Inc. for said work at said price. <br /> 3. Upon satisfactory review by the City Attorney, the Mayor and City Administrator are hereby <br /> authorized and directed, for and on behalf of the City, to execute and enter into the <br /> construction contract with Architect Mechanical Inc. <br /> 4.
