Araalysis/ 12�cori�menda�ion: According to the visual simula.tion diagram, the applicant is proposing a center identifcation sign (or pedestal) sign which is 7S feefi in height and has a sign area oi800 square feet. The width is appro�mateiy 21 feet, based on scaling the diagram. So the sign face would be 21 feet x 38 feet, The diagram does not provide a full view of the sign in terms af whether there is sign area fio the ground. The actual sign area may be less than 800 square feet, or may be divided between two sides. It appears that the posts supporting the si�n are 11 feet apart. More information is needed frotn the applicant on the actual sign itself. A concept drawing was provided to staff some time ago, and is included in with this report for your reference. It shows a sign face 17 feei wide and 35 feet high, for a total area of 595 square feet. The Mounds View Sign Code, Section 1048,08 Subd. 2.g., i., and k., Section 1008.08 Subd. l.i. {6), and the definition af PEDESTAL sign in Section 1008.01 Subd. 6 include the following regulations concerning signs for the B-4 district, where this property is located. Section 1008,08 Subd. 2 i. B-4 Regional Business District: signs as allowed in subdivisions 2.g, hereof. g. (1) Signs no exceeding one hundred�{I00) square feet per business occupant. This inciudes all types of permanent signs, as defined in Section 1008.01 of this Chapter. k. Other Signs Allowed in Certain Districts: B-3 Highway Business District, B-4 Regional Business District and T-1 Light Industrial District may have, besides the one hundred (100) square feet signage per business occupant, one general pedestal sign not exceeding three hundred foriy (340} square feet. Only one pedestat sign is atiowed per property. Section 1008.08 Subd. l.i.{6) No sign shali eaceed thirty five feet {35') in hei�ht. Section 1008.01 Subd. 6 PEDESTAL SIGN: A g-ound sign erected upon a single post or shaft or upon two (2) posts or shafts that merge or touch at the base or which are not more than fifteen feet (15') a�art, center of shaft to center of shaft, with the disptay portion mounted on top thereof at least seven feet (7'} above the surface af the street adjacent to the property on which the sign is lo�ated.
