Refer to the
attached site plan. A stand of trees immediately norih of the property and aiso across the street
from the property eectively obscures motorists visibility to the site until at a point nearly
perpendicular to the property. The 10-foot variance requested is the minimum that would
allevzatethe hardship.
Ies:
The Section of the Cod that speifies Iocations and setback for advertising sins was created io
estabiished a uniform and consistezt approach to the sitin of signs in Mounds 'View. The inteni
of the 15-footi setback from any streeiine (interpreted as right-of-way} s to restrict visual
impairments ad distraciions to passing motorists. If is the point at which a balance befween
maintainin clear sight-lines and a business owner's aiility to adver°tise has ben achieved. in the
case of pot's, howver, because af th extensive Fiighway 10 right-of way, the setback would
1ocie the sin approxirnatly 80 feei f am th shoulder of the highway. 5pot's proposes to Iocate
the sign at 5 feet aihe praperty line and 70 feei from Ighway 10.
